He wasn't really using the 2 devices, he pretended to use them! ahah That battle round was done using solely his mouth while he faked using the devices to battle Rithmind who also did the same thing. In fact at the beginning he said: "I am also a looper" (the 2 devices are loopstations)

I do beatbox myself as well. you can do sounds using your throat (those will hurt if done too much), lips, tongue and cheeks etc. any sounds that are not throat related won't hurt but will leave the working muscles a bit sore if done over a long period of time.

5:00 that’s a tongue flute. So he’s essentially like singing a note through his tongue to give it that weird noise. At least I’m pretty sure that’s how he does it. If that is then it shouldn’t hurt but idk

When it comes to any bass involving the throat it usually only hurts when you first learn them but eventually you develop them so that they dont hurt anymore. Also there’s breathing techniques so that beatboxers don’t get winded too easily.
