這首歌是周深在出道之前在yy 平台躲在屏幕之後翻唱的歌，被中國好聲音的導演聽到邀請周深參加第一屆的好聲音選秀節目，周深以為是詐騙沒理會，第二年該導演又找上周深，這個時候的周深因為嗓子害怕像以往一樣被取笑被罵而拒絕了，第三年導演又找上他，連發了三個月的微信還要在他回中國的機場堵他，這次周深為了導演的用心參加好聲音的比賽以歡顏這首歌贏得老師轉身成為學員而正式出道！ 因為這首「化身孤島的鯨」對他的意義重大，出道六年成立自己的個人工作室後買下這首歌的版權。 如果不是這首歌今天或許周深不會成為一個歌手也說不定！ 謝謝這首歌！

This song expresses how lonely one is in the vast sea of people trying his best to send out signals looking for companions, but no one can recognize his message. Just like a lonely whale, swimming alone in the sea, singing a song that no one understands. It has been calling its other half all its life, but there has been no response. It is emitting a cry that has never been heard and will never be heard again in the future. This song is originally created for an animated movie, but it wasn't being accepted way back then (about 20 years ago). The writer offered to Zhou Zhen 8 years ago for his 1st album.

The lyrics is really beautiful. There are multiple verses that starts with hes just a whale that transforms into and island, and then it describes how fish and prawns swam right beside, birds sit on top, algae under the belly. It's such. wonderful metaphor of having so many things or people happening around you, and feeling lonely. Because if you think about it a whale is super huge, in comparison to all of this, they are all moving along and physically being there with the whale but it doesn't proved company because they are too small. The whale might as well just be an island, I mean an island can be full of life, but the island itself has no life, it is stationary, it is not living, but everything on it is, so how lonely that must be.

Im so happy there’s a lot of reaction videos to Charlie Zhou Shen. Every single song ZhouShen studied very well by himself. And expressed the song by his own way, inner experience, the journey how he overcomes and encountered the difficulties and challenges.. all the songs sing by ZhouShen as a fan we can truly deeply understand what he’s trying to say. 2024, the 10 anniversary of ZhouShen, in these 10 years was not easy to him as a “abnormal” singer compared to other singer. Every single song represented a stage of ZhouShen. So when 生米 “ fan of ZhouShen “ listen to his songs… We will start crying because we know how hard that he goes through all the obstacles. For me, our journey also just same like ZhouShen, all of us trying hardly to go through all the difficulties and challenges we encountered. Seeing and listening every single song of ZhouShen, “we found ourself” in the song and “saw zhou shen” in the song. All of us just normal people and trying hard to survive. The original song was adapted from the song "We Are All Forgotten" sung by Hong Kong singer Angela Tse. The lyrics were re-written by Walter Avner and re-produced as Zhou Shen's first single after his independent development. This “loneliest whale in the world” (the whale doesn’t have an official name) who has no family and no friends because no one can hear it. Literally, Alice “sings” at 52 Hertz while other whales communicate at 15 to 25 Hertz range. Alice can’t attract a mate because she’s singing too high. The first time people heard her song was in 1989, when the hydrophone network of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recorded her voice for the first time. Alice can’t get a companion. She doesn’t enjoy the same things everybody else does and she finds it hard to relate to anyone her own age. When she tries, it’s almost like they’re not even listening. To make matters worse, Alice doesn’t seem to travel along the same migratory routes as any other baleen whale species. It’s just out there in the ocean, swimming alone-and crying. Meaning of the song The songwriter is trying to relate the experience of Alice to someone who is ‘unique’ in a certain way and being rejected by the others. The reason why Zhou Shen bought the copyright of the song in his own version is he used it to express his similar experience as Alice. Having a higher pitch in his tone made him a sad and lonely boy when he was young too. He urged to get acceptance and understanding like Alice but what he could do is only singing alone in his early days without showing his face.

Rozette, I don't know why you're so surprise that it's about a whale, it's not describing a whale literally. That Katy Perry song "Roar" was also one of several that's at the top of my head. Also there's plenty of English songs, that aren't written specifically for a movie that centres around the animal. There's tons of songs, and these are just the ones where the title has name of an animal in it. I know youre only watching for the vocals, but I thought maybe if you really appreciate the singer, you'd want to know the lyrics. I hope someone translates it for you, it's a little difficult to translate, and if someone does, you should get a more direct translation, so you can interpret the metaphor yourself. Personally I think the lyrics is truly beautiful, my interpretation is it revolves around loneliness, but it's a profound sense of loneliness. It's an understated way of describing it, or perhaps more accurately, being aware of it.

跟老师用这个比喻解释这首歌会比较好理解，就是电影《金刚》，把自己想象成骷髅岛上的那只大猩猩，独自在孤岛上生活自以为强大拥有整个世界，后来人类来了，金刚被弱小的女主角吸引落入人类的圈套被抓到纽约，最后也是带着女主角爬上帝国大厦，给人一种“世界之王”的错觉。所以这就有一种很奇怪的错觉，不管是“鲸”还是“大猩猩金刚”，都拥有巨大，力量，同时也是孤独，软弱。它是“王”？还是被关在马戏团里的“动物”？所以这才是这首歌最能触及人心的地方。一开始我觉得自己很强大，拥有整个世界，而你在我面前很弱小，但当我想给你什么的时候却发现自己其实一无所有，唯一能为你做的事情就是把你送回属于你的世界，而我只能离开。。。。。。所以这是个有些凄美的童话故事。

这个应该是中文审美和西方文化的差异吧。中文表达情感的时候都要抽象迂回才觉得美，如果你写“我好孤独都没人理解我”，感觉就是大白话，太直接了，对于习惯了在情感表达上含蓄的中国人来说，虽然知道你在说什么，但是欣赏不来。 但西方人的情感表达本身就是很直接的，他们也更能欣赏更直白的表达。可能也体会不到为什么非要绕那么大个弯又是比喻又是投射地去写一种其实可以更具象地表达出来的情绪。

不是全部西方人，只不过北美这边的很多普通人成长过程中没有过这种教育/经历而已。欧洲有历史，曾经/现在有贵族的国家都会好的多。 哪怕北美也不是只有很直白的感情宣泄，也有很多非常subtle的歌词啊，写得太白了大部分听众也都嫌弃的。虽然她耳朵很好，但似乎听音乐的局限性太大了，多看几个视频就发现每次提的reference都是那几个歌手，还都是有名到谁都听过的，可又没有很多近年出名/得奖又受专业认可的。 而且上次有首歌（好像是易燃易爆炸）听到戏腔就一直说好narrow（她的意思应该就是紧而不是好的focused声音），模仿的也完全不是健康的发声方式。要京剧/或其他剧种都这么唱，那历史上都不可能有任何出名的角--没等成角儿全长声带小结失声了😅

北美这边怎么没有从动物角度唱的歌啊？而且主题也不是动物，不就是比喻心理历程嘛（虽然这首的词确实有点刻意造作），但又没讲怎么吞虾战虎鲸什么的，不会难理解到让人听不懂、无法共情吧🤔 (or is it real Canadians don't get sarcasm? Metaphor neither?😂)。流行乐有多少不同的种类风格，难道写歌的时候也都先让市场部搞个调查，问这个主题/写法有多少人愿意听？做音乐总不能只以能不能大火为唯一标准来写歌吧，那都大数据加紧研发A I写歌算了。 如果只以个人观点说“我欣赏不了”那一点问题没有，但说在欧美红不了也太绝对了吧，而且有些所谓大红歌手的歌，其实也很多人觉得又俗又傻不喜欢呢。
