Are you sure... ZUN steals melodies from other people... and gets away with it every time...

@@suqd674 He certainly takes existing melodies into his works, but what he does with those still takes a lot of skill. There are some detailed breakdowns of his pieces on KZbin highlighting his shifts between tempi and scales. He is not just copying other people's work, he is being influenced but skillfully turns it into something different. Which is what basically everyone in music does.
