D R Harris Arlington Shaving Soap | The Daily Shave

Matt here for another vintage straight razor Daily Shave video and straight razor tip.
The Soap: D. R. Harris Arlington.
D. R. Harris and Co. Ltd. is the H of TTTH (Truefitt, Trumper, and TOBS), the old school traditional English shaving soaps, and is my personal favorite of the four. The hard tallow based puck produces a high structured peaky lather that resembles whipped egg whites. The scent on Arlington is a mild 4/10 strength citrus forward elegant traditional cologne type scent.
The Brush: Simpsons Polo 8 in super badger. This brush is a great combination of plush and scrub. The tall classic looking Polo handle is solid and comfortable. The 25mm knot is dense but splays easily and feels wonderful building a lather on the face.
The Razor: 1950’s Klas Tornblum 4/8 full hollow with replacement scales. The Swedish steel can hold a sharp edge for a long time. The small format razor is light and maneuverable and cruises around the face.
The Aftershave: D.R. Harris Arlington. The box reads, “ A classic English aftershave for gentlemen.” Yes, that sums it up well. The scent is the same as the soap but with added menthol. The splash has a nice cooling face feel from the menthol and glycerin. The scent stays close to the skin and lasts on my skin for about 3 hours. This mass appealing classy scent is perfect for the office or close quarters when you don’t want to offend.

One of my first purchases was some DR Harris Marlborough and that thing lasted forever. I have another refill puck of the Harris Naturals Soap. It is a superbly performing soap, IMHO. Good tips on scything. P.S. The links for the soap and aftershave are backward lol

Ive been wanting to try their Windsor. And I think they have good aftershave milk type product. Their a reason why they have been around for so long lol great shave man!

Hi, do you hone your straights yourself? And does washing your straight during the shave lead to rusting of the blade? I have been advised against it. I have been told to wipe it with a cloth, in between the passes to wipe off the soap. And how do you maintain your straights?

Yes very dense, but the fine silver tip hair still splays easily. Not too much of a lather hog or difficult to rinse.

The bowls are nice for the first 5 minutes or so, and then they fall apart once you put any water near them. TOBS and DR HARRIS make the cheapest bowls I've yet to see. Refills all the way!
