I thiink this print is a representation of the work of artists when they don't get what they are looking for. "Effort when it's sterile produces melancholia".

It's called Melancholia because the angel holds the keys & understanding to the universe, but is stuck here on Earth in physical form, not able to manifest them until her days are done (hence the bell).

Did you ever look at the face? It's Albrecht. That's a self-portrait. Showing his interests. Really beautiful. It's easier to understand, if you look at it.

So who did he make this piece of art for?
@sheerabetnag

A nice practical analytical aproach , but then too much of it takes the effect of artwork itself. Being a good Draftsman that he was Durer, could not paint or drew like Greek or Italian masters. Very good technique wise, he probably suffered from lack of emotions needed to do the Painting. Here he is showing his own status, personified as Female, looking at a block unable to carve or paint like Michelangelo (who could set free the spirit cuight in in block of stone). He is expressing his melancholy, nothing to do with its physical state of black bile juice, but a sheer depressed, frustrated psychological state.

I noticed that you had done some blogs on the above artist and thought you might be interested to learn some not so common stuff about this artist? Hitlers favourite artist was a Crypto-Jew! According to world famous auction house Christie`s- Adolf Hitler a German Politician and leader of the Nazi Party, favourite picture was “The Knight, Death & The Devil” by German born Renaissance Artist Albrecht Durer made in 1514. BUT.... According to the latest analysis of that picture and the Trilogy that it is from, it looks like Albrecht Durer was probably a Crypto-Jew (secret jew). Durer made the pictures on high quality copper plates to print "en-masse" to distribute across Europe for all the Jews that were being tortured and burned at the stake by the Catholic states and the Holy Roman Empire/ Pope. The prints were a means to both hide their Jewish id from the inquisitors but also to allow them to still practise the main tenets of the Jewish faith. He probably saved more Jewish lives than anyone in History just by using his art! Durer's paintings are exquisite! I am curious which Greek masters are beyond his capability in drawing/painting as I am sadly unfamiliar with that tradition (I only know El Greco, who does indeed bring the emotions). Best wishes!

That's right, you balance Saturn or satan with Jupiter which is God , this is one way people saw it but its not that simple . Categories of symbols grouped in a way to remember and understand more complex concepts that are behind the scenes of the material world . Our friend here is right , the 16th cen. was very aware of how balance played a huge role in our well being. The Chinese knew about balance as well , they saw the 5 elements in the body that when out of balance would effect health and well being. Too much fire and not enough water. They're 5 element is the metal that the west groups into the category of earth. We have fire water earth and air and spirit which is optional depending on if you're speaking scientifically or esoterically lol. The system of humors was considered both in the 16th century 🙂

Funny thing with sharing knowledge about ancient spiritual wisdom, is that the ego of modern man continuously gets it wrong. This angel here, being a woman, would have no purpose in those times to be utilizing such tools. BUT if you believe the faith of the times, the story shifts. You should redo this analyzation with the spiritual understanding behind each character in mind. Rainbow Angel, Or Fairy Queen often is depicted with the crown of leaves on her head (NOT A HOT PRESS!!). Oiy. Whatever. Not bothering to subscribe, you may seed ideas, but the path is wayward. Staying to my own.

I'm truly sorry, but I need to see the picture and not your face. I got much less out of the video than normaly. I now know what you pointed out about the picture, but I didn't get a chance to look at it myself. This make the video nearly worthless to me, to be honest. If you don't want to change this style, could you at least link to the picture, so I can look at it while I listen to your video?

I just added a link... and please know that I'm working to get better at this KZbin thing, but my learning curve is slow since I teach full time and can only put out one original video per month. I want to find a good balance between the image and having different things happen on screen to keep people engaged. This kind of feedback is really useful. Thank you.

Hey constructive criticism is useful, however there is an extremely simple solution to the issue youre faced with and what is annoying you. Simply type in the artworks name and the artists name into google and click images. Easy as that! As the artwork mentioned in this video is quite famous and significant in art history and the development of printmaking, it is quite simple to find it on google and would most likely take way less time than writing that comment. Im not trying to be harsh or anything but i find it sad and frustrating to see a comment on such a trivial issue that coulve been very easily resolved on a video that mustve taken hours to film and edit (im not even going to add the amount of research that went into this).

Thank you for the link. Do you find people are not engaged enough to keep watching? And more importantly did the new style help? Thank you for your work and have a nice day. :)

Thank you for the answer. I see your point. It is a pretty lazy thing to ask for a link to the picture. However I don't think this is so trivial. Having just the picture open is not ideal. For example in this video the jupiter square is highlighted including the shapes which add up to 34. I would need to switch beween video and foto. So this is not the optimal solution I would like. But if the style remeans there should be a link to the picture in the video, because maybe I'm not the only one who would like to see the picture for longer. There are propably some people, who will feel the same as myself, but will just close the video. And others might ask for a link in the comments. I don't think you want to tell everyone they should google it, do you? It's way better to make it as easy as possible for the audience to engage with the content. So I think a link in the discribtion should help. Do you understand now why I feel different? Have a nice day. :)

I hardly get enough views to see a statistical difference yet. Watch time does seem to improve, but the views are down. Sample size is too small right now. I just want to keep making videos and keep improving. So thank you for giving me feedback to that end.
