Not bad for a Stephenson valve gear with slide valves engine.

Were any of these locomotives in western films?

315 starred in "Around the World in 80 Days" plus some earlier B&W westerns.

You need to get a small tank car right behind the tender to store water. You have plenty of coal, those engines are thirsty. It would look just like any other car in the consist - except it would be hosed up to the tender to have plenty of water to you don't need to stop for refill.

What the dickens is wrong with that engine. Those mini explosions are not normal combustion. Certainly not good for the boiler & smoke box structure. Nice to see the engine pulling freight cars BUT - are they loaded with freight? Is this producing revenue or just having a fun day with an expensive toy.

This is obviously a photo freight special. The C&TS holds them frequently. "Freight" consists of photographers/riders.

It's called wheel slip when the rails are slick.

The facts are::there are rail road company's who want to preserve history but have scrapped the wrong equipment. like the southern pacific the 37's and the 39 engines should have been saved for the meusem but they were scrapped. one steam engine goes and a diesel comes back. it was poor management. they finally sold out to the union pacific, now there is no Southern pacific rail road any longer. Their engines have been scrapped but the 4449 it is used for excursions it is the only one like it and has been for a lot of years it was put back in service. There is a lot of them had to do what they had to do to stay in business. The liberal high taxes that it cost it is some thing that the democrate liberals brought onto the country. There was the 4104 it came in for it's normal inspection. you knew it was coming from two miles away it was junk from the start.
