Δάσος Δρυμού Χαϊντούς Κορυφαία Αξιοθέατα Οροσειρά Ροδόπης .

01.Livaditis (or Trachoni) Waterfall
Hidden in a verdant small canyon of the Western Rhodopes, on the border of the prefectures of Xanthi and Drama, is the largest waterfall in the Balkans in terms of the quantity and volume of running water. There, at the western foothills of Mount Koula and at an altitude of 890 meters, nature has created a unique spectacle. The waterfall is known by two names: Livaditis for the residents of Xanthi prefecture and Trachoni waterfall for the residents of Drama prefecture. The virgin nature that surrounds it is of unique natural beauty. Its waters fall vertically from a height of 40 meters with a tremendous wave, giving rich vegetation to the crevices of the rocks. In winter several times the waterfall freezes and the floating crystals break with a deafening noise when the first warm days of spring arrive.
02. Peak of Haidous
Starting from the Forest Village, we follow the path that crosses a coniferous forest of black and Scots pine. Wild roses and cottonwoods intertwine in the forest clearings and in spring crocuses adorn the landscape. The old path leads us to the abandoned military outpost at the top of Haidos or Drymos 1,608m. The image of abandonment of the building seals the stone years that afflicted this uncritical area. The natural landscape is fascinating! The Rhodope mountain range spreads out green, wild, with its deep inaccessible ravines and gentle ridges. To the north, towards the Greek-Bulgarian border, the peaks of Mavri Petra, Gyftokastro and Thermos can be seen. In the years of the Cold War, the ridges of the Rhodope magnetized the watchful eyes of targets. Today they invite persistent climbers to the world of adventure.
03. The bridge of Leonidas
It is a single-arched bridge 18 kilometers north-east of the village of Livaditis, in the area of Arkudorema a little above Haidou towards the Greek-Bulgarian border, 9 kilometers from the forest village of Erymanthos. It is located at an altitude of 1,240 m and is the highest of any other traditional bridge in Greece.
The bridge of Leonidas is a single-arched bridge and was named after a military commander who lost his life on the spot during the Balkan wars. The bridge of Leonidas was an important focal point in the past. According to the tradition next to the bridge during the Balkan wars of 1912-14, there was a big battle between the Greek army who controlled the area and Bulgarian comitatjis who wanted to occupy the area by establishing a Komitato.
04. The virgin forest of Xanthi
A unique virgin forest which has even been designated as a "Preservable Monument of Nature", the forest of Chaidos, can be found in the Rhodope mountain range in Xanthi. It is one of the most interesting, from an ecological point of view, forest ecosystem in the region which attracts every year hundreds of visitors from the region but also from Greece more broadly and abroad, with nature lovers enchanted by the unparalleled beauty of the forest.
01.Καταρράκτης Λειβαδίτης (ή Τραχωνίου)
Κρυμμένος μέσα σε ένα κατάφυτο μικρό φαράγγι της Δυτικής Ροδόπης, στα σύνορα των νομών Ξάνθης και Δράμας βρίσκεται ο μεγαλύτερος καταρράκτης των Βαλκανίων σε ό,τι αφορά την ποσότητα και τον όγκο του τρεχούμενου νερού. Εκεί, στους δυτικούς πρόποδες του όρους Κούλα και σε υψόμετρο 890 μέτρων η φύση έχει δημιουργήσει ένα μοναδικό θέαμα. Ο καταρράκτης είναι γνωστός με δύο ονόματα: Λειβαδίτης για τους κατοίκους του νομού Ξάνθης και καταρράκτης Τραχωνίου για τους κατοίκους του νομού Δράμας. Η παρθένα φύση που τον περιβάλλει είναι μοναδικού φυσικού κάλλους. Τα νερά του πέφτουν κατακόρυφα από ύψος 40 μέτρων με τρομερό πάταγο, χαρίζοντας πλούσια βλάστηση στις σχισμές των βράχων.
02.Κορυφή της Χαϊντούς
Με αφετηρία το Δασικό Χωριό ακολουθούμε το μονοπάτι που διασχίζει κωνοφόρο δάσος μαύρης και δασικής πεύκης. Αγριοτριανταφυλλιές και βάτα συμπλέκονται στα ξέφωτα του δάσους και την άνοιξη κρόκοι κοσμούν το τοπίο. Το παλιό μονοπάτι μας οδηγεί στο εγκαταλελειμμένο στρατιωτικό φυλάκιο στην κορυφή της Χαϊντούς ή Δρυμού 1.608μ. Η εικόνα εγκατάλειψης του κτίσματος σφραγίζει τα πέτρινα χρόνια που ταλαιπώρησαν τον ακριτικό αυτό χώρο.
03.Το γεφύρι του Λεωνίδα
Πρόκειται για ένα μονότοξο γεφύρι 18 χιλιόμετρα βορειοανατολικά του χωριού Λειβαδίτης, στην περιοχή Αρκουδόρεμα λίγο πάνω από την Χαϊντού προς τα Ελληνοβουλγαρικά σύνορα, 9 χιλιόμετρα από το δασικό χωριό του Ερυμάνθου. Βρίσκεται μάλιστα σε υψόμετρο 1.240 μ.
04.Το παρθένο δάσος της Ξάνθης
Ένα μοναδικό παρθένο δάσος το οποίο μάλιστα έχει χαρακτηριστεί ως “Διατηρητέο Μνημείο της Φύσης”, το δάσος της Χαϊντούς, μπορεί κανείς να συναντήσει στην οροσειρά της Ροδόπης στην Ξάνθη.Πρόκειται για ένα από τα πιο ενδιαφέροντα, από οικολογικής άποψης, δασικό οικοσύστημα της περιοχής το οποίο προσελκύει κάθε χρόνο εκατοντάδες επισκέπτες από την περιοχή αλλά και την Ελλάδα ευρύτερα και το εξωτερικό, με τους φυσιολάτρες να μαγεύονται από την απαράμιλλη ομορφιά του δάσους.
