Luis Torre it means he flows on the beat super well and super smooth. freaking a beat is riding the beat like butter

A true LEGEND. If I dust off my 1200's and go back to turntablism it will be because of these videos.
@j-boogiebrown99616 жыл бұрын
I sold my turntables in '03/'04, but I never stopped writing down ideas for routines, for if I ever got back into it. I'm so old now that I realise I'll probably never get back into it. I'll probably end up giving all of my ideas to my nephew, who is 11, if he ever gets into it.

@@j-boogiebrown9961 Did the same thing as you. Sold the decks but always kept up with the scene, checking out routines and vids. But now, 15yrs after selling everything, i found myself with the money and motivation to get back into it and now i'm back on the tables every day. I got my decks (AT-LP1240's) and an a mixer (Reloop ELITE) right before the stay-at-home orders went into effect so now I work from home and get to scratch while programs are running for work, great timing. I'm 43yo and i know i'll probably never get back to the level i was at before i stopped but I'm making multitrack mixtapes for friends and working on getting my scratch back up to par. So glad i got back into it, don't let age stop you from doing something you love.

@@IronCharioteer just turned 40 in may. used to love scratching. was on d's board and asisphonics. had a few friends in phoenix and we'd have hours long sessions sometimes. was so fun. i was so convinced something great was going to come of it. at some point i decided it was a musical dead end tho. the wider musical world never really made room for turntablists. lost faith in it. seems like everyone thought the same because the scene evaporated. couple days ago i found myself wanting to hear it again. started with switchblade sermons. been binging scratch vids all week now. kinda wanna get a table and a mixer and pick it up again. got two little kids now and no time or space. prob not going to happen.
@djbobbyd39856 жыл бұрын
I like that fact that during your scratch practice you pick out a particular scratch, like the title says and focus on it, this one being the OG Flare. That's a great idea. Excellent video, once again, with your skills, making it look real easy. ✌Out

Hells yes..... D-Styles is pure talent!! Practice makes for perfection and having these videos to draw off of, is paramount when learning. I grew up listening to Qbert & MixMaster Mike, But was completely Lit when I saw DJ Craze win in 1999. We all Appreciate you D-Styles. Thank You D!!! Peace to the Beast. L8er vader.

Around 1996 I started getting my hands on mix tapes from the Bay Area and I began scratching ever since. Craziest is part is I did not have internet growing up and never knew these scratches had names and who created them. I know I can't be the only one haha

I am thinking Rane mixer ALL The Way Live, but D-Styles is on pioneer. No biggie, Just wondering why One Of The Best is using, Not the Worst but Certainly {MidLevel on a good day.} NOT The BEST. I have to admit, using "not the best equipment" will sharpen skills when practicing and then Mobbin on Rane, Vestax, Technics, or Allen &Heath. All Personal Preference I guess.

Thank you so much Dave! Getting og flare down. Must of watched this vid about 40 times. Love to see more from the master. 3 months in and I'm really getting used to double click fader. Just starting to put tares in my two click orbit flare. I'm still a bit ruff but getting there. Peace

I'm getting it. Timing is everything. My scratches have been sounding a bit wrong and it's my timing!! It's great as the more you get into practicing scratching a greater understanding. So luck to have these legends to learn from. Big respect D )
@djimma50804 жыл бұрын
dude check out TT notation , if your fade cuts or off its still right as there are hundreds of variations of flares and orbits depending on where the cuts are located , so your still doing a scratch just not this one . In total there are around 4000+ scratches , there are over a 1000 with just your record hand and no fader , In other words dude keep going at it will come
