As you saw in my last vlog, we have reached Amritsar and checked into the hotel. After freshening up, we headed out to explore the city. Our first stop was the Partition Museum. We explored the museum, and the entry ticket was only ten rupees.
After visiting the museum, we went to Jallianwala Bagh. The entry there was completely free as there was no ticket required.
PARTITION MUSEUM :
The Partition Museum, located in Amritsar, is a significant historical site dedicated to preserving the memories and experiences of the Partition of India in 1947. It provides a deep insight into the lives of millions who were displaced, the struggles they endured, and the cultural and emotional impact of one of the largest mass migrations in history.
JALLIANWALA BAGH :
Jallianwala Bagh, located in Amritsar, is a historic site that stands as a somber reminder of one of the most tragic events in India's struggle for independence. On April 13, 1919, British troops under the command of General Dyer opened fire on a peaceful gathering of men, women, and children, killing hundreds and injuring thousands.
Many people jumped into a well on the site to escape the bullets. The well still exists as a symbol of their sacrifice. The walls of the Bagh bear visible bullet marks, preserved to remind visitors of the tragedy.
