You are right. Foreigners going to Malaysia can only get short term residency rights eg digital nomad, study mama, MM2H. Policy flip flops are also not uncommon or infrequent. In the last few years, the MM2H programme has been significantly changed to target high net worth individuals. The uncertainty on how long you can stay (subject to political and policy changes) makes it hard to plan long term. PR is very difficult to get, let alone citizenship.
Shopping mall decorations are super competitive in Malaysia. Because we have so many festivities, and sometimes the dates are very close to each other, so they have to completely change all the decors literally overnight. Super efficient. Especially around October to February, you have Halloween, Deepavali, Xmas, New Year, CNY, and once in a while even Eid (we call it Hari Raya Aidilfitri here) jammed into these months. So it's very common to see a 20 foot Xmas tree all bling bling today, then tomorrow you see a 20 foot 财神爷 holding a gold nugget tomorrow 😆
My father is 85 year old & he is in nursing home… there’s a difference between retirement home & nursing home.. retirement home are for those who are mobile, their concept is like a hotel where u need to know how to operate the aircon, tv, key card etc etc….for retirement home the is an emergency button to call for help….nursing home are for those who are not mobile where there will 24 hour care & the set up is in a bungalow .. ie more personal touch
The UK is the poorest major country today and certain to have an ever-worse, bleak future. Anyone there with money is leaving or has already left to escape a future of dominant despair, crime, poverty, and rising violence.

Penang will be better place for retirees...have sea beach hills, slower pace than KL, more Chinese hence easier communication, foods, etc.

Penang is rapidly becoming more Malay tho and will very soon be that majority, and in 10-15 years the super-majority.

Living is Believing. Choose your lifestyle according to your budget. And one will feel the warmth of this society when one has a newborn here. Made for Families. I don't know much about retirement.
In Malaysia, the most comfortable place is George Town in Penang, Cheras and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur. I am talking about for elderly Chinese. A good and cheaper than private hospital is University Hospital Specialist Centre, Petaling Jaya. It is a government teaching hospital. Almost all the Doctor who attend you are Professor. The top medical facilities are from government. But the Fee can be 30% to 40% cheaper than most private hospital. I have 20 years exposures of this hospital because my mum and relatives medical problem. Their diagnostic skill is above many hospitals because the Doctor practice Professor in the medical college. Our government allow them to do private practice in order to retain them. To integrate well in any country is to be involve with local community, like religious group and Non government organision.
@@A-Nomad-Life What is sun? haha. There is no sun here this month, even less than UK lol. At least on Penang island. There is a big international boat regetta competition here this week and weekend with competitors from thirty countries as far as Dubai to Japan and many between. But the last 2 days rained out with 100mm of rain each day. No sun.

The humidity is lower in the day but the sun is hot then. After years here, I've concluded that the key to more outdoor comfort is more WIND. Malaysia is not windy but to maximize wind and comfort, you must be oceanfront - where wind makes a big difference for comfort, especially during the day.
China needs to drasticallly RAISE its retirement age as it's already insolvent with massive debts. Make it so nobody can retire until after age 70. Even better, cancel all retirement and healthcare benefits. That's likely coming to most countries anyway, whether by a hard default or (more likely) a soft default.
