In this video I will show you how I installed my skunk2 intake manifold on a d16y7 motor after removing the stock intake manifold. It’s a great upgrade to get a little lump of power out of this little 1.6 liter! Stay tuned!

Thanks for watching! Glad I could help anyone running a p28 ecu uses the 2 wire iacv and if you run the y7 ecu the 3 wire iacv is used, so I used the stock TB Y7 and just a block off plate for the iacv on the back of skunk2 mani.

If you have any questions lmk. Remember y7 TB with y7 ecu or y8 TB with y8 ecu. The iacv reads differently between these ecus just a fair warning. I love this upgrade in my single cam can’t complain runs much better!

@@builtjfilion934I’m installing a skunk 2 for my manual swap with a y8 throttle body and also using the 2 Wire AICV since I’m converting to OBD1 with a po6 This should all work right?

How did u go about running that style idle air control valve. Bec my oem one was not the same style or the same plug.

*_Doing research for a manifold swap on my Y7 as well. I want to fit a 3 point strut bar but not sure if it will fit because of the stock Y7 intake goes up and to the side. I've only seen them on Y8 intakes and not Y7 intakes._*

Yes the 3 point strut bar may give you an issue, upgrade to a y8 manifold or aftermarket one that runs the cold air intake like a y8

Awesome work brother,,,,What did u do for idle air control valve, in the ek ,the one on the skunk 2 manifold is a 2 wire and like a b series and the ek is a 3 wire ,need help with brother thank you appreciate the help

3 wire to 2 wire conversion. Its pretty straight forward. One wire gets clipped and tapped off at the vavle and then one pin move at the ecu. But you cant do it with the stock computer

It depends on the ecu you have honestly, the d16y7 ecu looks for the 3 wire signal and the d16y8 looks for the 2 wire. I had to block off the back of the skunk 2 manifold iacv sensor and run the y7 TB with iacv attached to it and run the coolant lines through there.

Just watched this video, curious about rearranging the throttle cable. Does it reach over with no problems? Since there’s more airflow would it store any codes

I used the b18 throttle cable and it’s worked great for me just had to do a few adjustments to the cable but after that no problems

What about the nipple on the far end of the water pipe? Did you just cap that off?

The nipple of the water pipe goes to the iacv. And the other end goes the the intake manifold for coolant

So what about all the sensors that are on the factory manifold? Do you just not plug them back in or delete them? I’m just confused

Depends what ecu your running. In my case I used the y7 throttle body & y7 ecu that looks for the 3 plug signal. So yes the other iacv that sits on the back of the sk2 mani is useless just loop the hose from one nipples to the other to prevent a vacuum leak. If your using it with a y8 5spd ecu then you use the iacv on the back of the skunk2 mani and run the coolant lines to the water pipe on the block and the other one to the intake/ or thermostat housing( each set up is different).

i did the same swap on my d16y7 but now i’m leaking fuel from the rail it looks like the bolts maybe the washers

Is it leaking from the injector’s or is it leaking from the fuel pressure regulator. Remove and check all O-rings they are known for going bad and causing leaks

No problem man lmk if you have any questions, I had to run the y7 TB and ecu with this but if your doing it on a y8 then run the y8 throttle body and ecu

I have a automatic D16Y7 intake manifold, would I be able to do this process with that skunk2 intake ? I’m trying to switch over to a Y8 I haven’t had much luck with it

Yes you can most definitely swap of to skunk2 mani, just use your y7 ecu, y7 throttle body swapped over to the SK2 mani and block off the iacv that goes on the back(you can install the iacv and loop the coolant hose so it’s closed not open or you can make your own gasket and and block off plate until you switch everything to y8).

Alright I see you moved the brake valve or maybe changed it all together couldn't see it very well. But does it really need to be moved? And if so can I just unbolt and stuff it down a bit?

Yes you can move it around to where you like as long as you have a mounting point and enough slack!!

I wanna say it’s a b series throttle body as I heard stock d series is too small , which makes sense , I’m probably gunna use ls integra TB when mine comes in but wanted to see what this guy used

I used a integra TB in this video but I switched it back to the stock d16y7 TB because it was throwing a CEL for my IACV and serging idle with my stock ecu. You can run this set up fine with a b18 or b20 TB and a chipped p28 but I’m running stock ecu so I had to keep it as close to stock as possible.

But if you use a y8 ecu cause of the 2 wire ivac swap won't the y8 ecu be looking for vtec or will it run OK without the vtec

It will run without Vtec if you use the y8 setup but will throw a CEL for Vtec solenoid and VTEC pressure, that’s why y8 swaps go with y8 ecu and y7 with y7 ecu. I have no issues with my current set up with a Y7 throttlebody in the y7 ECU no issues no idle serge or a check engine.

Hey man after replacing my intake manifold on my d16y8 it seems to be revving extremely high upon start up. And then it starts to rev up and down as if someone Is pressing the gas on and off and it’s consistent ?? Plz does anyone know I’d appreciate it.

Y7 throttle body with the y7 ecu 3 plug iacv, and blocked off the iacv set up on the back of the Intake manifold. Basically ran the stock y7 set up coolant lines go to y7 throttle body instead of the iacv like b series. So I wouldn’t get idle serg

Y8 throttle cable if I’m not mistaken, if not I know the LS p75 throttle cable and bracket would work

You can do what ever you want passing inspection without it may be another issue. It won’t hurt the motor per say.

If your cars old enough you may be able to register it as antique, but if it has to go through emissions inspection it may throw a check engine light which will cause you to fail.

Obd2 plan to buy a tuck harness then get p28s300 but aftermarket harness doesn’t have plug for evap purge solenoid all aftermarket harness is the same like: Oil Pressure Sending Unit Knock Sensor Intake Air Temperature (Intake Manifold Style) Oxygen Sensor (Primary 4 Wire) OBD2 Alternator 2 Extra Wires OBD2 Injectors 1-4 MAP Sensor TPS (Throttle position) Idle Control Motor Electronic Speed Sensor Ground Fan Switch OBD2 10-pin Distributor plug h20 Sending Unit (for Gauge Cluster) Reverse Lights Engine Coolant Temp Starter Signal VTEC Solenoid OBD1 Computer Plugs A,B,D Power Distribution Cap

I ended up using the d16y7 throttle body with 3 wire iacv attached to the Throttle body, left the iacv 2 wire behind the manifold there as a “block off” technically. Reason for this is the iacv on the ecu for d16y7 is looking for a 3 wire signal not 2 wire iacv. I had a serving idle with the b18 TB and 2 wire set up. So I just disconnected the coolant lines from the back iacv on the manifold and put it on the d16y7 TB with the Iacv as one, this solved my CEL(IACV) and my serging idle problem. All and all I used the original TB off the d16y7 not the one in this video

Yes if you switch your ecu to a manual ecu p2p that ecu looks for the 2 wire iacv set up so that will work with a LS TB

To answer your other question. Yes, the d16y7 TB will work but you have to run a stock d16y7 ecu anything other than a stock ecu will give you problems. there’s other ways to get it done it’s all about what ecu your running P28(d16z6) and P2P(D16Y8) calls for 2 wire iacv P2E(D16Y7) calls for a 3 wire Iacv Any hondata or chipped ecu can be configured to work on how ever you have your set up.

DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE A COMPUTER TO TUNE YOUR CAR… YES You need to Dyno after this the car will choke & just bog out do to high air intake & low fuel intake the fuel rail is only going to help but so far
