♦ Sims 2 vs Sims 3 vs Sims 4 : University (Part 2)

Hello and happy new year! This is a brief (believe it or not) comparison of Sims 2 University Life, Sims 3 University and Sims 4 Discover University, this is the continuation of University Part 1, this time I'm talking about sororities, fraternities, social groups, organizations, societies? Whatever you wanna call them, they're groups your sims can join in university and some even outside!
Which ones are your favorite groups? Let me know!
My opinion?
Sims 2 was the first and it only has 2 groups, I liked how the premade greek houses are basically sororities and fraternities, I like the process of entering one, but I think I liked the secret society way more than I did the greek houses, since it had lots of perks compared to them.
Sims 3 they felt more like clubs, they're pretty open and basically if you do anything you belong to one or many social groups, I liked their perks and how they're so different from each other but I would've liked for a secret club or something to be available like in the other games,
Sims 4 is back to Sims 2's take of exclusivity but joining them is not a challenge, I liked how they brought back the secret society and how there are many organizations, I feel like I would've preferred more than 3 levels but they were many groups to make up for it.
So in conclusion, right now I feel like they all did a good job, it felt like a different take on the same concept each time and I appreciate that. They all get a thumbs up from me.

Jason bolden I think the sims 2 is more of a cult. They make money easily....kinda sketchy. I think sims 4 went back to being more cultish but more with actual power. I think sims 4 is more mystical and supernatural base the all the rest of the sim. I mean all they need is werewolf’s to make it more mystical.

I like the Sims 2 Greek Houses. My female Sim wanted to join one when she was at university. So I attempted to get her to join La Fiesta Tech's sorority. After failing two times, they finally let me in. Big mistake. I promptly locked off access to the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedrooms to the other sorority members. Eventually one starved to death, another essentially an hero'd by swimming while sleepy, and the other two were expelled for failing their courses. Should have let her join the first time, or this could have all been prevented.

I feel like the sims 2 brought more challenges to the series, where it took more effort to get involved into organizations, while Sims 3 took it back a notch and allowed easier access, then Sims 4 tried to bring back some difficulties but not as much as Sims 2 accomplished.

Yeah TS3 especially feels so North American (US and some part of Canada)! I didn't buy it as I couldn't relate at all! At least in TS4, it's more global (still feels too american with the "no oven" dorms but less than on previous games) but the task are already relatabke for lots of people!!

Me too. I remember wondering why a toga was considered such a scandalous thing to wear...then my mom explained that, when toga parties first became a thing in the 50's, people's clothes were much more formal and buttoned-up. Back then I can see why a toga would be thought of as 'revealing'.

The free pizzas in sims 2 were such a disaster when I had my sim join the sorority. They went bad so quickly and I got cockroaches. Actually, the sorority in general was awful hahah. I didn’t expect to have to take 4 sims through university all at once it was freaking chaos.

Lenore Herbert, maybe I just was too young for the challenge. I was just trying to give my main chick a 4.0 gpa. Succeeded with one, one chick died of starvation, I think one got kicked out if that was possible? All I remember is the last chick BARELY graduating. I just wish they would’ve existed as a roommate type thing like with the dorm. So my sim could socialize but I didn’t have to care for all at once 😂 Sounds kind of fun now though since I’ve got more simming experience. Maybe I can have like a sisterhood between them and they all graduate with a 4.0, move out and get good careers, then they all get married off and are still good friends 😭🤞 It’s sounds so sweet now I wanna try it

omg I just started to play the sims 1,2 and 3 when I was young and I found it so cool,I hesitated to buy the sims 4,I just was scared to pay a big price and find it boring or whatever.I bought it and found it so empty,I also bought expansions packs to get more cool. Today I have the 4 versions installed on my computer but I play the 1,2 and 3 waaay more than the fourth,seems like no one put effort to do it and just feels empty and sooo easy,but I actually think the graphics are pretty good and clean.

The team taking care of TS4s colors and light effects did an incredible job! However, I think it's only natural for a game sequel to have better graphics than its predecessor. I see so many highlight the graphics of Sims 4, and while I do feel the team should get praised for it, I wonder what people would compliment it for if it wasn't for the visual aspect. (I'm a Sims 2 and 3 player of soon 10 years, and I as well have sims 4 downloaded- only base game tho, and I haven't played it a lot except for creating sims which I love to do)

I remember when I was really young (maybe 8, I think) I was playing Sims 2 college, and I wanted to strategize schmoozing with the dean/professor (can't remember what they were called). Well, being young, I wasn't good at reading all the information on the screen, and I saw the secret society members, thinking they were the dean/professors, because they were so nicely dressed, I befriended them (and also thinking "Sims being Sims" the characters were randomizing on me, because I saw my actual professor before, but then "lost" them); I ended up unintentionally joining the society, and the scene when they came to get me, I thought I messed up in class, and was legit being arrested/kidnapped for cheating (I played around a lot with the cheating in class, too). It low key scared meso much, that I restarted my game! XD

In Sims 4 my sim lived in one of the campus houses, and every three hours his roommates would come in and be holding perfectly made lobster thermidor or a whole roast chicken. They'd just put it down and let it rot, and then eat it after it spoiled and get sick. They'd also never clean up. I'd find plates of spoiled food all over the house. My sim was honestly the only thing keeping his roommates sane. Of course his roommates would then just leave rude messages about him in return lmao

I definitely like the variety on display with the Sims 4, though it feels weird that some of these organizations are apparently college-specific when there doesn't seem to be a reason for them to be (specifically the Brainiacs of Foxbury -- I mean, I'm pretty sure you can still join if you're Britechester, but. . . *shrug* I dunno, it feels like only the spirit squads should be college-specific). I do miss the silliness of the old Sims 2 Greek houses and secret society, though. Feel like my ideal game would have those versions too (maybe there's two secret societies? Or maybe the Order of Enchantment isn't necessarily only available if you're a college student. . .). Nice comparison of the three, though! I always like watching your Sims get into trouble. XD

And yeah, most of the Sims 4's packs bring new content but forget about the big picture, making the expansion feel like you "beat" it once you've run through the new features imo, but let's hope this changes with upcoming packs. In sims 4 if you have seasons or get famous you can find a celebrity or father winter as college students. LITTERALY, I HAD MY SIM ATTEND A FOXBURY PRIDE EVENT AND I FOUND BRYTANI CHO AND FATHER WINTER AS A STUDENT

Besides the sims in the discover university trailer. Alot of the students are random sims. Wich means if you have another pack that adds a new world there is a chance you can find a random sim from that pack at college events. So if you have island living you may find a mermaid from sulani, If you have get famous it could be vanessa jeong or even judith ward!

I feel like the Sims evolved to a path that isn't really my jam. I loved watching the Sims interact in TS2, I loved how packed each lot was even if each one was small compared to the recent games and locked behind loading screens, I loved the crazy stuff that happened and the over done facial expressions. TS3 and TS4 brought a lot to the world and new stuff to do and that's great and all but I'd rather just enjoy watching the Sims interact with each other and their world in a more meaningful and detailed way.

My sim died of laughter while at a Braniacs study session because my ass really thought it was safe for her to do her homework before calming herself down in a mirror. As long as she didn't do any funny interactions, she'd be FINE. Narrator: She was not fine. I reset in a panic and fucked shit up because now I can't find her urn. I exited without saving but it didn't work. Now I have to hope she contacts her spellcaster fiance so he can invite her to the household. In the meantime, he'll be working his way up the spellcaster ranks so he can use the dedeathify spell. While dealing with their toddler son in the process AND working on his music career. Poor Adam, he DID NOT sign up for this. But here we are. Sorry Adam, I'm trying to bring back your girlfriend. You'll thank me later. 😂

tS3 gameplay was the Best, and it merges, u can be a teen fairy jock, make a rebel singer or band (and give them the chopper bike and 80's wardrobe) a nerd archeologist on a egypth quest to stop the distopian future. U can Even make a farm boy, milking caws and all, until he win a football , go to college and live the dream of the Big city, or but a beach house on isla Paradise.

I just remembered one of those cult sims walked into my sims house in the middle of the night and just hung out there. This is not the sim that died in the Braniacs study session I mentioned in my previous comment. This was her brothers house. Her brother also went to college and the cult sim walked into his house when he lived in that one off campus house that's in Britechester. The little one that starts off unoccupied. Edit: my Sim that died hasn't ever lived in Britechester. She lives in Sulani and grew up in San Myshuno. But of course, still died in Britechester 🤦‍♀️

Sims 4 university reminds me of my middle school advisory My advisory and another advisory had mascots. Our mascot was a frog and the other’s was a lobster. We got in to a prank war and in one hilarious prank they threw a box of paper lobsters at us. We were contemplating what to do to them, when I, yes me, yelled “OFF WITH THIER HEADS!” So we then got to work ripping the heads off of the paper lobsters, and then we put them back in the box, wrote a little note, and gave them back..

Sims 2 seems really funny. I skipped most of Sims 4. Even the video makes me sleepy. I like the science pod (?) in Sims 3. If I remember correctly, it can clone Sims from DNA, seeds, and create a Plant Sim.

Still waiting on bands for TS4. I can't believe it's been seven years in and we don't have electric guitars or drums. Those could have easily come with Get Famous or Discover University, but that's not EA's way. Why gives us more musical instruments in one of those packs when they can milk every last dime from their customers by making a separate music pack and then a separate music kit.

Well, to get some good impressions of it, you really need to live on campus. You can study at home, but I wouldn't recommend that except you want to keep your house and stuff your sim already earned. Or if they have children, what is a point I like about it in TS4. :)

To be honest I wasn't a fan of The Sims 2 University! It was a good pack but I didn't care compared to the other expansions. The Sims 4 I don't care at all because of the game itself not just the pack. In The Sims 3 it ended being in my top 5 expansions! So I think in the end is just a matter of preference. The Sims 3 wins for me when it comes to University theme pack!

It depends, as a whole? I know Sims 3 and 4 each have their fun moments, but I had the most fun with Sims 2, I feel the wants and fears are what makes it work for me.

The Red Plumbob yeah I meant as a whole. I’ve only seen let’s plays of the sims 1, 2, and 3. I have however own the sims 4 and I love it to death. It’s probably because I love their CAS, toddlers, graphics, and build mode. My second favorite though would have to be the Sims 2.

Gotta go with Sims 3. I get bored too easily with Sims 4. Sometimes I delete the bars cause it’s way too many. Every world has one and it’s like enough already
