D4s - the 1st Month

The D2X(s) has also group focussing and it works great. I did not understand why the D3 did not have that function. b.t.w. I love my D2Xs.

People nowadays are sooooo afraid of shutter actuations..The D3,D3s,D3x,D4,D4s,5D have al carbon coated kevlar shutters and are made for a lifetime.

It's a great camera, but the prices are getting absurd. My D3s is still my workhorse (and the D800E for things that don't move), and soon we'll only see Doctors and Lawyers with these cameras...and the occasional pro or those who work for agencies that supply gear....especially once they surpass the $7-8k mark, and that doesn't seem too far off. It's insane. I guess I'll wait to upgrade to the D4s once the D5 comes out :)

Annoys me that Nikon hamstrung their lower end FX cameras to 6fps max .Canons dine the same thing, 5D Mk III only has 6fps,. They dont want to take sales away from the D5 and 1D Mk4

Nice review Mr Peterson. The D4s is not for me because it is too big. But is a fantastic camera. Since you mentioned Nikon DF. Is the ISO of the much smaller and cute Nikon DF better than Nikon D4s? Also the sound of the review has problems. I think should have lower gain to avoid clipping.

I just bought the D4s and the color seems to be off, can someone help? I'm thinking its just the LCD color on the back, any help please. Thank you!

I purchased D4s in mid June and have used it on shooting birds in flight with my nikon 800 f5.6 lens on quite many birding trips. However, there were moments of disappointments that the combo couldn't track birds, even when using group area AF. To be more specific, it took too long to get the bird in sharp focus. Just wonder whether I have missed anything in the camera setting and would be grateful if you can share you setting for birds in flight. Thanks.

to be honest, I wouldn't be looking at a gear issue. But all my settings for the D4s are on the website.

Moose Peterson Oh Have to go look at your Settings. I am loving the Improved AF system over my d4

The S is not for speed. Many improvements over D4 but only 1 frame per second faster. More brain power by over 30% for faster processing. Much much more !

Mr moose. Canon 1dx can shoot 14 fps full burst. Unfortunately, the D4s will get smoke with the 1dx.
