I ran both a 48A and a D7F94N in the woods for Weyerhauser back in the early eighties. The 7F's were nice machines but the 7E's got more work done because they were nearly 8,000 pounds heavier. The turbo 4-cylinder in the 7E's was a brute, and one of the finest-sounding engines ever made. I still miss those days.

That trip backwards seems to go on forever. Especially when you are buying the fuel.

I worked with a fella who despised D7's. Too small for the big jobs and too big for the small jobs he said. I had a little seat time on a 7E direct drive and thought it was an OK machine.
