Amazing how incompetent some people can be. That "builder" shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an engine, let alone an Rv8. Thank you guys for definitively putting all the mysteries to rest about these engines. Extremely helpful in the colonies since it's the only engine we were ever offered.

People never learn! Pay a bit extra and take it to those companies that know how to do the job PROPERLY !

If you have a crack in the original casting. Wouldn't pressing a sleeve in make the block serviceable? I have saved many blocks with cracked cylinder bores this way. All cast iron tho,never an issue.

I build a lot of wet sleeve diesels and our sqcs always have the liner 2.5-5 thou proud... Why do you machine the tops flat with the deck? Shouldn't you have that small bit of prelude to press the liner down
@RPIEngineering5 жыл бұрын
Different application. With an Alloy head on the Rover V8 engine that is designed to mate (with a gasket of course) to a perfectly flat deck of a block leaving the liners proud as you are suggesting would have some adverse effects.

@@RPIEngineering nah the diesel head has no chambers, and is dead flat. Maybe a gasket issue though both the rover and diesel have combustion rings as part of the gasket.
