Being the younger sibling is not easy, especially when both of you are adults and you’re not kids anymore. I’m seeing this 2 years later and I’m legitimately in the same situation, we love our older siblings because coming up they truly are like a second parent and someone you look up to. But in adulthood all you need is a sibling and friend, there’s no need for scolding, cussing you out, overstepping boundaries and treating you like a kid. I felt Brat and her silence because that’s legit the exact same thing I’d do out of respect for my big sister. It sucks because you know your older sibling looked out for you, you think the world of them and want them to know you’re appreciative, but it’s not fair to tolerate certain behaviors out of love for them at your own expense…that’s where distance comes in, it’s not for lack of love but a need for peace

It hurt my soul to watch Brat throughout that interaction. Her eyes said, "things never change and I don't know why I tried." Sometimes the silence is what needs to be heard moreso than the words. In this case, the silence was *screaming* and I felt and understood every bit of it.
