i think this anime was just a big ad for the VNs prologue because the anime appart from some filler episodes and that kid sakura arc story from previous da capo depicted exactly word to word from the vn but since i played the vn before even knowing they made that anime i can say for certain that the route they took was ricca's we can also choose sara,charle,himeno after youve done those 4 arcs aoi's arc unlock

Yep. But you can now get the Da Capo 3 VN from Mangagamer or steam, so you can now experience the full story, instead of just the prologue. I haven't finished the full story yet, but it's been great so far.

考察してみると、Ⅱラストでさくらが枯れない桜に取り込まれた時、その影響で彼女の心が別れて飛ばされたんじゃないかって気がする。Ⅱでの記憶を保持した心がタイムスリップか何かで飛ばされてⅢの時代に（これがアニメに出てくる『さくら』）、記憶を持たないもう片方（わずかに大人さくらがベース？）が風見鶏の時代に、という具合に。 そして、アニメ版Ⅲ12話と風見鶏編ラストで、それぞれの心が元の時代に戻って融合し、大人さくら復活、と。 でもそれでも、どうしてさくらが枯れない桜が解放されたかの謎は説明できないんだよなぁ……

Because this series is based on a visual novel in which your choices decide who Kiyotaka ends up with, they were all marriage possibilities. They are remembering their past timelines if Kiyotaka chose each of them. While they all have memories of general events that they all experienced, they all have different timelines unique to them. For example Charles has memories of a timeline in which Kiyotaka chose her. Sara has memories of events that occurred if Kiyotaka chose her. Ricca has memories from a timeline in which Kiyotaka chose her. Same with Aoi and Himeno. Play the visual novel Mein Freund, it is available in English through both Steam and MangaGamer.
