My brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus in Revelation addressing the church pointed out things he loved that were sound doctrine but he also pointed out the things that were wrong in each church. Maybe we should find out what can be done about this division in the church as a whole.

This was definitely something I struggled with. I grew up in the Charismatic Movement but then I learned about the bad doctrine. I got to a point where it was very difficult to understand if it was ok to express my love for God even in praise and worship bc I was afraid that my emotions were going to lead me to heretical expressions. I was questioning everything and was afraid of being lead by my experiences instead of the Bible. But emotions are apart of who we are and it's important to express our emotions bc it actually helps us grow in our love for God bc we meditate on him when we express our emotions. If you love God why not show joy and adoration to him. It took me almost 10 years to come back to expressing my love for God in my emotions bc of my lack of understanding. But now looking back I realized that if I did show expression I would of had more joy and growth in my walk. God had to show me that we do need a balance of the two. As long as it doesn't lead to heresy.

Glad I came across this video. As someone that is much more reformed than charismatic, I've been guilty of this hard heart towards the Charismatic Movement. I'd love to be sound in doctrine as well as big in heart. A Romans 10 type heart that Paul has.

I've shared the same experience. I was born to a reformed family but it's the charismatics that led me to the cross and from them I saw that God is a being that I can experience.

Amen. John 4:24 - "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth." We've had a divorce between spirit and truth. Both combined are the power of Christ manifest. It's time for the body to follow the head and put in the ground work. Theology without application and love misses the point. As well as spirit without truth will cause us to be tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Let's act like brothers and sisters. :) Love you guys.

Interesting to hear that others reformed folk struggle w/ this tension. There are many moving parts on either side of the matter. And reformed folks def lack a bit in real-world empathy tbh. Im a reformer, if you want to use labels, and I've always been connected to folks in that circle. I fell sick unexpectedly almost 2 years ago now (still am) and due to loss of physical movement etc, isolation set in. The folk who actually take their time out to just show love or even just call to pray, connect w/ etc are THE LAST people I'd have expected. Reformed, theologically 'astute' folk suddenly vanish and it's the love of folks that in all honesty are from the "the other side of the fence" that show real-world love. Heck, even non-believers display real-world love way more than reformed brother, sadly. This really brought that tension he talks about to view. There is something to it. Respect for being willing to take shots, to get folks thinking.

Corinthians Ministries Bro, you are trolling. He just shared a personal testimony and you said he has false beliefs. If someone shares facts from a personal experience, that doesn't have anything to do with beliefs. God love you, but the crux of the Gospel is that in believing in Jesus, God, through the Holy Spirit, gives them a new heart that loves his righteousness and hates wickedness. The wonderful thing about our Lord is that, technically, you can be a Christian and still be ignorant of doctrine/practice. Yea, it will hurt you to remain that way for long, but the point is that Jesus is angry at his people for being errant. He put emphasis on knowing what He wants you to do and doing it. I see your heart is for God, but I think you might need a little more discernment about where you need to contend for the faith versus where you might just need to share a little information, drop a seed and pray for rain.

I agree, many of them are stubborn and rebellious, and continue to lead others astray willfully. Paul made this clear to Timothy in 2 Tim. 3: "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also." However, we still need to continue to pray for them. In the 2nd chapter, Paul gives Timothy these clear instructions in regards to dealing with false teachers: "The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will." 2 Tim. 2:24-26. All i'm saying is, it's possible for God to removes scales from their eyes just like he did Paul. We just need to engage them with gentleness and God will do the rest.

Bro u have been so instrumental in helping me wrap both my heart & mind around the God of Scripture & the gospel. And I'm loving ur present stance inspite of how unpopular it is within the Christian camps, but as someone who grew up under the teachings of Jehovah Wittnessess I can tell u that my Moms who although sincerely wrong believes what she teaches inspite of it being Heresy. She & many others share their "Perversion of The Gospel" not knowing they are doing more harm than good but rather believing their Doctrines are True...I said that 2 say that the way u defined "False Teachers" as individuals who "knowingly" lead ppl astray isnt always True. Exhibit "A" perfect example of the point u were making about us not always being on point Doctrinally.

I've been in the same shoes as Da TRUTH for a couple of years now where I could listen to sermons from popular preachers of the Charismatic persuasion and sermons from preachers I had to find on the Internet of the Reformed persuasion. And I've known people personally who've come to Christ through both avenues. I think that we just have to keep in mind that Jesus' baseline criteria for inheriting the kingdom is that He knows that person trying to enter, and that knowing isn't indicated by how proper their doctrine is, but is characterized by love for Jesus and His righteousness, based in a personal esteem of the lengths He went to to get you, a heavy hesitance toward things that you know He doesn't like and the ability to esteem others above oneself (both in preaching that they are in need of Jesus' salvation and demonstrating sacrificial compassion, like Jesus, for the sake of introducing them to Jesus' character), holding the conviction that Jesus is going to judge the world, including you. Everything else is important in ways, but are, essentially, additions to that baseline.

I am not Reformed, but I do lean Calvinist and I like John Piper but I am not a T.D. Jakes or Joyce Meyer person. But I respect his positions on these issues. I believe it is so easy to point out what we call false prophets, when we do not know those people's hearts. I also follow Todd White, he is a Christian and believes that the healing that happened during Acts, that Jesus did, etc can still happen today contrary to R.C. Sproul (who I respect but I do not agree with him on this position and not John MacArthur either). God bless my brothers and sisters in the Reformed and Charismatic circles as well as you Da' T.R.U.T.H.

Far from every charismatic Christian believes that brother. Now, some of the preachers he mentioned might be false teachers, but that doesn't mean that every pentecostal find these preachers good.

Christoffer Lindberg Don't get me wrong; I was very specific with my wording. I was speaking only of those that affirm any other message apart from the gospel of Christ. I've met with and had fellowship with people who are a part of Pentecostal churches, and affirmed their faith and fruit. But I also warn them of the very slippery slope that charismatic churches often find themselves on, often forgetting clearly written out passages for the sake of emotionalism.

MrPs103 - Or using the wisdom of the Father through the Holy Spirit you should pray for those you disagree with that your heart and their heart be transformed into being of the same mind & on one accord proving to the world that you are children of God by your love for one another.
@MrPs1038 жыл бұрын
KB I love my brothers and sisters in the faith; those who hold fast to the faith, make disciples, preach the word, work to outdo one another in honoring each other, meeting with one another in one accord. These people hold me down, and I strive to do the same for them. I love the common man and woman who may not have come to faith, but who have honest questions, and strive to be there for those people to help guide them to Christ and love them through it all. I love those humans who say they're of the faith, but do not match up to the Word with their beliefs or lives. Those who throw out parts of the Word are not to be deceived by me calling them 'brother'; God Himself will cast out those who call Him Lord, but do not do as He says. I have only rebuke, admonition and warning for people like this. They are promised Hell for their disobedience and disregard for His gospel, and so it is out of love and care for them that I point out the discrepancy they have between what they do and what the LORD has clearly written for us, in hopes that they repent and receive Christ for who He is. This isn't about disagreeing with me; God has proven through-and-through that His Word is exactly what it is: "breathed out by God, profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." One day, I will be gone, but His Word will stand forever, and so it is what I will continue to preach. Not emotionalism, not a false gospel, not anything twisted to match what I like, think or feel. Just the Word in its entirety, by the discernment of the Holy Spirit. I pray it is His acceptance that we seek after first and foremost, not man's. Galatians 1:10
@KBshyne8 жыл бұрын
MrPs103 - I'm convinced this response will not matter but I will say it none the less. All I'm asking is to simply pray for unclogged ears and opened eyes for yourself and those who you are in contradiction with. I have yet to see perfect theology in any form of Christianity including reformed and I do not consider myself anything but a Christian. But ask yourself, how can one who is in error be corrected if you do not pray and interact with them for them to see the light? As scriptures says let there be no divisions among you and make every effort to make peace.

All of Da' T. R. U. T. H.'s reasonings are opinionated - not what the scriptures actually teach on the subject. His conclusions are based upon his feelings and not Biblical doctrine. He doesn't acknowledge that the judgments against the people he has propped up are based upon heresy in their doctrine and not merely social differences.

Plus he is not taking anything from the his people as some suppose. He is teaching them God's that they are blessed with Abraham's blessing so they CAN help. Lastly, the Bible teaches that they who preach the Gospel should love of the Gospel. 1 Cor. 9:14.

I'm not going to necessarily agree that you can listen to a false teacher and one who teaches the truth and gain any thing from both. Truth is opposed to error, and the two can not agree at all. However, I will say that some of the things he mentioned as far as the more experience-driven circle can learn something from the fact-driven circle, and vice-versa. I also believe that while we can agree to disagree on some topics, thing can be cleared up a lot from a healthy dialogue. Not debate (defending one's position) but discussion. I grew up in a charismatic home, went to charismatic churches for years, but when I heard clear teaching explaining some of the misconceptions I had regarding certain doctrines, it all made sense. Another thing I agree with that T.R.U.T.H. said is that we can often be against one another instead of unified in Christ. Sure, there are theological disagreements. Fine. God will sort all of that information out for us when we cross over to the other side, and then what we all see dimly will be fully disclosed to us. That "Ah Ha" moment will happen as soon as we see Christ. However, while we're here on this earth, we need to focus more on what unites us as Christians. It's not so much that we all know the Westminister Catechism or that we can all speak in tongues, but that we have God's own Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us. That we have all been given a new life, and received forgiveness from God. We were all born in sin, deserving of God's wrath for our sin, but Christ has paid the fine in His blood for us, and our debt is paid. Here's another thing to consider. If we're filled with the Spirit, we know that we're to forgive others because we ourselves have been forgiven and accepted by God. "As Christ", right? That doesn't stop today at all because we all continue to sin and God still loves us and accepts us because of what His Son did for us. As it stands, we all in some way, shape, form, or fashion, are in some sort of error in our theology. This is because the fullness of God can not be figured out and stuffed in a book. An eternal God who has no beginning or end is not dissected by "attributes". Though very helpful and needful for us to help us know God, it doesn't come close. If we're honest, though we may know and understand much of what the Bible says about our God, we're still learning and do not know everything there is to know about God. Even still, we are accepted, beloved, and given grace by the same great God. Even in our error, even in our sin, even in our not knowing everything. I beleive that we need to extend the same love and grace to one another no matter which "side" you consider yourself on.

Juan Blanco that's exactly my point so there shouldn't be other doctrines or beliefs that causes seperation. There should be only one core belief and one core doctrine, it's simple. The scriptures aren't hard, the people interpreting the Bible makes it hard. The doctrines come from the heart of the interpreters. Thats where your divisions are good sir
