Congrats man! I started following you when you did the first crossing with Martin, I think you were not yet a pilot. You've come a long way, baby...!!! I totally understand your emotions there, and people might not understand what it feels to suddenly see you are sharing the field with the Blue Angels, or other legendary military planes. It is difficult to describe, but it does happen. I had it happen to me at least two times. One with the Blue Angels in Terre Haute, Indiana. Then a few other times with C-130s. Keep filming flights, thank you.

Loved the video series, congrats on your first crossing ! I saw at 6:38 that the VLO bug was set for 152 kts or so and got scared when you extended the gear at 180kts. I then looked it up and it seems that VLO for extension is actually 194 kts haha !
@MickeLang
@MickeLang 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! The 152 is for the emergency gear extension and Vle is 188kt. Reason for the different speeds is that the nose gear extends against the wind so when the system got pressure it's no problem for the extension but in case of an failure and you have to extend it manually it actually "falls" out and to get it into the "locked" (in a diamond it does not really lock, the hinge goes over a certain angle that it would not collapse in case of no pressure) it has to do that by gravity and therefore a lower speed is required making sure it goes over that one point. Hope this is understandable haha
@antho8070
@antho8070 2 жыл бұрын
@@MickeLang oh alright I get it ! I fly a Socata TB20 and we have a similar limitation which is 97kt for a gravity emergency extension ! The nose wheel also extends against the wind so we need to decrease the aerodynamic forces (via a speed reduction) so that it can go all the way and be locked by the mechanical spring system. Thanks for taking the time to explain ;)

Hello Micke, I really like your videos. I just had a few questions if you don’t mind. I live in the US and am planning to get a private pilots license. I have been playing flight simulators for a long time so I am interested in it. I find it amazing how you can do long flights through different countries like this. If I wanted to do this, would the most affordable option be something like the DA62? I was looking up some information and seems like annual cost of owning DA62 is $130,000, is that accurate? I’m interested in getting a pilot license to be able to do long flights like you so I just want to see if it would be worth it. Also another question, what do you do on long flights, are you allowed to use your phone or something to keep you occupied? Also, does the plane have a bathroom? Would appreciate any information you could share with me about beginning this journey. Thank you

Great Series, I have a question why not use t/o flaps? Thanks, Micke
@MickeLang
@MickeLang 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The DA42 does not need/have flaps for take off. The flaps are described as "flaps approach" and "flaps landing" compared to the DA40, DA50 and DA62 which have the "flaps take off" position. But for short field take offs in the DA42 "flaps approach" are used. Why it is like that, I would have to ask our engineers ;)

Actually true, just did not want to make the north American‘s angry😜
@GaryMCurran
@GaryMCurran 2 жыл бұрын
One of the other main differences is that QNH is given in hectopascals versus inches of mercury. They obviously equate to the same thing, but if someone says QNH, you shouldn't expect to get something like 29.92.
@userDFboeing
@userDFboeing 2 жыл бұрын

After watching a bunch of videos with the different models, I realized that although the 62 is probably roomier, that uninterrupted bubble screen on the front of the 42 probably gives you spectacular forward visibility and views.
