It’s like he’s constantly torturing himself with his fire but couldn’t die because of his hidden ice quirk. Dabi has the most blessed and most cursed quirk at the same time.

Endeavour still could have trained him via helping Dabi control his quirk rather than pretending to ignore his child going up to the mountain to train alone and getting burned (he knew, he chose to not go bc he thought it would dissuade Dabi rather than encourage him). This could have all been avoided and even potentially led to Dabi eventually becoming a pro hero etc if Endeavour didn’t try to make the ‘perfect successor’ and appreciated what he had (ie the whole arc of his character is coming to terms and taking steps to help heal the time that he was a monster to his family).

Well, as it was explained in the manga, Dabi *DIDN'T* get a perfect mix like Shoto did. The reason Dabi burns himself is because his quirk gives him resistance to ice and cold, but NOT fire and heat. Meaning when he uses his quirk he burns himself, unlike Endeavor. Endeavor was warned this could be a result of mixing polar opposite quirks like he was trying.

Dabi's major quirk flaw is that he can't use his fire power without burning himself. It is likely that his ice quirk has the same flaw, and he will get severe frostbite when using it. Basically, ice burns like you can get if you touch dry ice. This will just be another example of Toya being self-destructive.

The fact that touya's entire issue was having a body like his mother's, should have been enough to tell he still had an ice quirk. Maybe one avenue quirk doctors havent explored, is that during quirk births, maybe the child feels the mental draw of being what they are told to be, that it backfires, and they end up having their quirk, mimicing the things they see. Like with touya, he saw his father be this big figure, a hero that was supposed to save lives, and be this amazing guy, while his mother was quite, and didnt seem to really have much purpose beyond breeding, then you look at his powers, and his flames burns bright, brighter than his own father's flames, those flames burning as bright as he thought his father did, while no ice quirk was shown, as it lay dormant, not holding much purpose for touya. When his flames turn blue, its the same moment his perception of his father changed, and in the end i think quirks play a bigger part than just genetics, and that they may eveolve with emotion. Since all todoroki children had a fire quirk dad, and ice quirk mother, I bet they all have the ability to do both, its just i think each one has a mental representation of what their lives are like, and their quirks represent that. Its just each child would be born differently based on their level of natural control over those elements. Touya could have been naturally gifted at using fire, and needed more training in order to use ice, but due to the mental drainage that was his family, he never had the chance and evolved another way. Shoto was naturally gifted with being able to control both quirks, yet we see him being a better ice quirk user at the start due to his mental drainage that was his family. The other two, fuyuki and natsuo could have been naturally gifted with their ice, but due to their father never even bothering with them in terms of training, they believed they never had the fire quirk, and suppressed it further. Since every human is different in the capacity to deal with different things, it would make sense with this extra layer of rules that would apply to how quirks are made, and how they evolve. Because if it is based on genetics, then based on how you come about, your mental state in a sense, then that would pose many questions. How would some of the villains evolved if they had different lives? Whether or not they can breed specific quirks by raising kids in specific ways, and so on. It would also make it interesting, since a lot of our characters are still young, and they can be influenced by not just the knowledge of this, but by going through it as well. We see constantly families like the class rep's where they actively harm themselves to better their quirk as training, so it would be cool to see another form of that, that can be used by anyone.

if we take the todoroki hair colors into considering, toya started out full red head but his hair slowly turned white over time. I think what that was implying was the strength of his ice quirk was developing as he grew without him knowing because he was so obsessed with using his fire to impress his dad, it never crossed anyones mind to see if he could have been equally as good if not greater at using ice. With fuyumi and natsuo they only had little bits of red in their hair with the main body being white which could translate to them only having the bare minimum of fire quirk with their main element being ice but due to endevor deeming them failures they never utilize that aspect of their quirk and stick to ice because its all they think they have. For shoto his half and half hair signifies his quirk is equal parts both meaning no one quirk is stronger than the other.

Because not everyone believed it. Simple as that. Even if he had a cold resistant body, it's easy to just write it off as a trait from his mother. Not the whole actual quirk. I remember when I heard people theorising and I was thinking, "no way in hell", but here tf we are and Dabi has an ice quirk. I was definitely shocked, theory or not. Even the fact that Dabi had cold resistance was never tied to him potentially having an ice quirk. It was always tied to the reason he got hurt by his own flames. Plus, not everyone saw the theories and not everyone is trying to think about theories. Makes complete sense to me why some people were suprised.

Intentaron casi de todo, desde intentar buscarle una opción aparte a explicarle porque no podía seguir haciendolo a él no le importo, por supuesto que debe de haber una solución pero no siempre es fácil de encontrar y en la situación en la que ellos se encontraban ninguno en esa casa estaba en una buena posición mental, además su punto de que como hubo una solución física para deku también debió de haber una para Mr. Crispy (disculpa me olvide su nombre) es totalmente erróneo, la razón por la que deku se rompía los huesos era por el impacto de los golpes lo cual con cada fractura y entrenamiento era evidente que se iba a mejorar y a fortalecer pero en el caso del otro el poder salía de el y su problema era su cuerpo en sí el cual no podía manejar esas temperaturas que podía usar su poder sin hacerce daño, por supuesto que podía pero lo que no podía hacer era exigirse más de lo que su cuerpo podía aguantar lo cual para el chico ese era el problema en si debido a que el quería ser cada ves más y más fuerte que es lo que preocupaba a ambos padres

So a Quirk factor will always reside in someone gene that having mix breed (2 or more different Quirk factor from their parents), it's just a matter of probability this sealed factor will come out or not the entire time. Although some critical condition may force this factor to come out just like Dabi. So yeah there's still a chance we can see Deku use some sort of Fire Breath from her mother's factor No Demon Slayer reference

Flame colour is also determined by the type of material that's being burned. Blue flames can come from salt, cesium, and alcohol as a few examples.

As much as I love dabi. I gotta disagree No. Dabi was not 100% a complete success. In the manga, it literally says that Dabi only unlocked this ice quirk because he was near death. Dabi never would've unlocked his ice quirk if he wasn't in this situation right now. And to be logical, Endeavour didn't assume anything. Endeavour did what any normal parent would do. He stopped training touya as soon as he realised touyas flames were hurting him. Let's say he DID keep training touya. Then everyone in the fandom would be calling him a monster for continuing to train touya even though it hurt his body. Yet he didn't, and people still want to say he was a dumb ass who assumed too early on. And yes, Dabi did choose to hurt people. Of course its obvious that this guy is not mentally stable, no matter how perfectly he can hold a conversation, but the choice was his regardless. Afo literally had no influence on touya. No influence whatsoever. He said it himself in the manga. He said that when touya woke up, he wasn't able to get through to him because touya didn't want to learn anything from anyone apart from Endeavour. So no, being found and essentially rebuilt by afo didn't seal anything. Touya ran away from that orphanage and burned it the fuck down. What really sealed the deal was when touya went back home and saw that Endeavour was still treating his family like shit. That's what set dabi off. He said himself, that was the moment where touya died and dabi was born. Not to be rude, it seems more like you're conveniently remembering things that didnt happen cus it helps your arguement. Anyway, if you're going to reply to this comment, let's have a decent discussion. If you're gonna be rude about it, then it's better to just ignore me. Why is everyone blaming endeavor for Dabi's condition.... Yes endeavor was responsible for breaking his family, for hurting his family but not for dabi.
