I think I prefer to scratch the sliders rather than the engine. It doesn't look to bad...

Just replace the case cover, doesn't cost that much.

I agree, it does protrude too much. It doesn't look particularly great either. Risk, scratches and scrapes on the engine paint or this expensive cover...

The motor guard does look goofy but I like the looks of the frame guard

Guards are supposed to protrude. What would be the point of them otherwise? The point is that in a slide, with no protection, the engine cases would wear through introducing gravel etc into the engine, resulting in an engine strip-down.

Personally, I'll risk the engine strip-down. I just don't like the look.

I have since taken the case sliders off, don't like the looks either. I have yet to crash a big bike in my 200,000 miles of motorcycling, but have dropped bikes from duck walking and pushing around by foot.
