Yeah I agree. I main Marth and use Corrin as a secondary, now. Marth takes more maintenance than Corrin, and Corrin is an easier character to learn. It is quite easy for me to play well with both characters, despite playing one more than the other. It also helps that I enjoy playing both :) Another thing that helps: While I do play Corrin to help with other match-ups, I still practice bad match-ups. Corrin vs. Min Min sucks, but I'll still use him against a good Min Min to learn how to better deal with one. This can help out a LOT when you face a player you've never met in bracket. If I go Corrin first, and my opponent goes Min Min, I have little fear because I practiced the MU. Even if the MU is bad on paper, great players have proven to make it work. I can do the same.

I feel like Corrin is a great choice, I'm not quite good enough yet to worry about really bad matchups, but Corrin is really fun to play, and he's quite good

One thing that I'm sure a lot people know, but not everyone, is pick a character you think you'd be good with. I was trying to play Lucina for G&W and it just was not happening. I put so much practice in, and watched the guides, and was doing all this Lucina stuff. But in the end I'm just not a swordy or zoner player. I pick up Greninja, and maybe it's not as good of a MU for G&W but I do way better because I'm just better at that keep away/bait and punish style. I do believe in hard work and learning a character you might not be good with. But I also believe you have to genuinely want it and enjoy it. I have way more fun playing Greninja than Lucina, even though it took me awhile to get used to Gren's movement. Why work so hard for something if you don't enjoy it? I thought Gren was cool and looked fun to play so I worked at it and found that I really enjoyed them once I got the hang of them. Enjoying what you're doing makes practicing easier and more motivating, because it's something you genuinely want to do on some level. And it makes work feel less like work. And why not pick a character that plays to your strengths, even if it takes awhile to get the hang of them? Some people are just naturally better at certain things, and naturally enjoy doing certain things more than other things. Play to your strengths, do what you enjoy, try something new (you might just find you're good at it and enjoy it), work hard, and don't give up when things aren't clicking right away. Just keep trying until you get the hang of it, if it really is something you want to do or think you want to do.

Honestly my Ike secondary is just there to have a character that I can pull out as a "I just don't want to deal with this match-up" response + I never have to actually worry about keeping him warm because of how easy he is (for extra context, Chrom is my actual main.)

I have Kazuya as my main just because he’s my best character, and I’m trying to make Rosalina my secondary since she’s my favorite character in the game. I’ve been building better fundamentals and basic understanding of her kit over time and just now I am trying to learn specific matchups I struggle with that she does well in, including some projectile users. Most of the time I have to play Kazuya because nothing else works, but I’m hoping to play Rosa more and more as I get better and see progress in covering matchups I’m not as good in. I will keep in mind to practice matchups for both though, thanks dabuz.

Kazuya is also my main as well but I want to pick up Cloud as a secondary because I find his fundamentals easy to learn and can use them if I struggle in a match up with Kazuya.

that’s my problem, I only play characters i love but they do not cover each other’s mu ( main rosa, secondaries robin/corrin) which is why when i run into a bad mu (aegis, belmonts etc…) most of the time i can’t even switch because it’ll be worse or just as bad

A lot of people who hate on elite smash would benefit a lot from: one, making elite smash. Two, getting to a high GSP with their main. It gets too much hate from people that can't deal with how bad they are at the game

No it doesn't. Elite smash is who can cheese the most. Ain't no actual skill on Elite smash and Nintendo online is so garbage that you can't really "learn" with all that input lag.

I agree and disagree online is a fine system to improve but it is also unfun and encourages bad play styles and options that wont work vs better player for example I have played enhanced pv in person and he wrecked me because he adapted way better than any online player Ive ever vsed. But at time you can also vs great player that make you much better. Overall I have mixed views and would say its worth it but you willl need to grind hard to get to actually good people and even then some wills till be gsp farmers or gimickers.
