I would HIGHLY recommend using axle stands once the car is jacked up - jacks can fail. If you're under trhe car when a jack fails, you die from crush injuries. Failing that, use drive-on ramps, but do remember to use chocks to the rear wheels to stol it rolling backwards (credit where credit is due, you DID use chocks in this video). Aside from that, all good, thanks :)

You don't need to fill the filter cap with oil like in 1978 , the filter is underneath the car and there is that thing called gravitation which will take your oil to the cap anyway. Put the new filter put the new oil and wait 5 minutes ...

@Tristen Ashton the day when I'm gonna need to watch videos to know how to change the oil is the same day I'll sell the car and never buy one ever again... seriously you can just put the filter the oil wait 5 min start the car and go about your day. Unless you are changing oil to a heavy duty truck or the engine has sat for weeks with the drain plug off and the engine is dry you are only enjoying a self made mess and not achieving any benefit. But to your point it is a matter of preference yet again not required.

I was thinking the same thing, thanks for confirming this as it looks very messy to mount the cap pre-filled with oil...

@@Steven3D8888 Some people enjoy the past too much I guess. I haven't seen A CAR to require prefilling the oil filter since 80's and even then it was an option with the alternative being start for 4 seconds, stop wait a minute and start again without accelerating it for 15 seconds so that the oil makes it through the filter..

Whilst I agree with you, that there is no need to fill the oil filter cap with oil , you are wrong to say that gravitation will fill up the filter housing ! The filter is fed by the oil pump situated in the sump area! The amount of oil this man put into the filter housing cap would not make much difference! Although he spilt most of it anyway!

Just to let people know if you have a Duster and you can't see the dip stick its because its on the oil refill cap.

50nm ? You'll make the oil pan bolt seize in place when the engine goes through many thermal cycles and then you'll be dealing with a stripped oil drain plug that could lead to another expensive repair like replacing the oil pan. The oil plug should be tightened much less at 20nm.

what is that socket size please i cant find the right size thank you
@Steven3D88883 жыл бұрын
I've read it's 27mm socket for the filter cap and an 8mm square for the bleed-thing. Can't confirm it myself but might help you.
@Steven3D88883 жыл бұрын
Also, try to find a 6-side-socket in stead of a 12-side-socket, this will less damage the plastic filter cap.
@rootfoo3 жыл бұрын
use a rubber strap wrench for the filter and whatever socket is for the drain. as an alternative use a tiedown wrapped around something that allows you to apply some rotational force if it slips add a piece of inner bicycle tube underneath the tiedown to increase adherence

Good video. This looks like the 1.2TCe Renault engine in a first generation petrol Duster? Are you certain about the oil capacity? 4.7 litres seems quite a lot.
@server1ok2 жыл бұрын
1st gen is 1.6 liter, 4 cyl. Avoid the 3 cyl at all cost, the 4 is already too small

It’s no about the brand it’s about the rating.

I mean since 2020 Castrol is also the new Partner. Before it was ELF. my '14 Duster have a ELF Sticker on the back ;) . But the brand is not important, important is the specification.
