Dacia began selling its reinvented seven-seater family car, the Dacia Jogger, less than a year ago. The
model has already proven a great success, with over 83,000 orders and more than 51,000 registrations made
since its launch in March 2022. In under a year, the Jogger has become the second most sold car to private
customers in the C-segment, excluding SUVs in Europe 21 countries*
And the success story is set to continue - the Jogger will soon feature a HYBRID 140 engine, which

Made at the Mioveni plant in Romania using Renault Group expertise, the Jogger is the first Dacia model to
feature hybrid technology and is therefore contributing to electrifying the brand’s range.
The Jogger HYBRID 140 will appeal to families and other customers seeking a spacious multi-purpose car
suited both to city life and outdoor activities. The Jogger brings a modern touch with technology that boosts
driving pleasure and provides excellent on-board comfort for a reasonable price.
The Jogger HYBRID 140 is also made for customers seeking the advantages of driving an electric vehicle -
silence, a smooth vibration-free ride, a systematically full-electric start, and instant torque for powerful
acceleration.
THE JOGGER, THE ESSENTIAL MULTI-PURPOSE FAMILY VEHICLE
Dacia has made a multi-purpose family vehicle offering up to seven seats universally accessible. The
Jogger combines the length of an estate car with the on-board comfort of a leisure activity vehicle, as well
as the characteristics of a SUV.
Robust and with good roadholding, the Jogger offers excellent comfort for all passengers, even adults sitting
in the third row.
This new hybrid version features all the advantages of the existing Jogger, without any trade-offs - with no
loss of loading space and the same generously proportioned interior. Proof of the Dacia Jogger’s multi-purpose
nature comes in the fact that the integration of a hybrid engine traction battery was planned right from the
start. The battery is installed beneath the floor of the car in the spare wheel compartment, which is also
where the LPG tank for the ECO-G 100 engine can be found.
The Jogger HYBRID 140 features an automatic gearbox with a “B mode”, which increases regenerative
braking while boosting engine braking. Use of this mode enables more energy recovery while enhancing
driving comfort in urban areas. The driver can therefore reduce use of the brake pedal, making the journey
uniquely comfortable both for them and all their passengers.
The Jogger HYBRID 140 features its own specific 7” instrument panel, which shows several different focuses
in line with the driver’s preferences plus essential information such as the level of traction battery charge,
remaining range and energy flow, to name just a few. And, for greater comfort, the Jogger HYBRID 140
includes an electronic parking brake as standard as well as a high console with closed storage and an
armrest.
HYBRID 140, PROVEN AND EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGY
The Jogger marks the arrival of hybrid engines at Dacia and offers combined power of 140 hp, as well as
the best levels of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in the Jogger range, from 108g/km. It harnesses
technology that has proven its effectiveness and become widely recognised at Renault Group, with a fourcylinder 1.6 l petrol engine providing 90 hp, two electric engines (a 50 hp engine and a high-voltage starter
generator), and an automatic electric gearbox with four gears coupled to the combustion engine and two
gears coupled to the electric motor. The lack of clutch in the car enabled Dacia to integrate this combined
technology.
The regenerative braking, combined with the 1.2 kWh (230V) battery’s high levels of energy recovery and
the efficiency of the automatic transmission, enable:
▪ all-electric propulsion for 80% of urban journeys;
▪ up to 40% greater fuel economy compared with an internal combustion engine in the
urban cycle driven in the same way.
The Jogger’s all-electric traction when starting and automatic transmission make the vehicle comfortable and
easy to drive, enhancing driving pleasure and energy performance alike.
The battery charges when the driver brakes or slows down, creating a truly limitless hybrid experience. The
Jogger HYBRID 140 has range of over 900 km (in WLTP combined cycle).

Hi when my daughter was looking at the duster is it correct that there was a seven year extended warranty available is that available on the jagger what would be the price thanks Andy ps I'm sure the jogger will be very popular with disabled who want to purchase a large automatic car instead leasing through motability

Hi Andy its a 6 year warrenty. While there is indicative pricing on the website its not totally accurate. When you place your order and take delivery from us we're then in a position to give a more accurate price specific to the vehicle you purchase. But you are right there will be many people who will enjoy this car both on and off Motability.

Its not that kind of hybrid. You're thinking of a plug-in. The self charging hybrids are designed for slow speed driving (stop start traffic, around town etc). Realisitically you would get maybe 1 or 2 miles of pure electric running but the primary use of the battery is to support the engine and make it more efficient.

Hi I test drove one of these today and am confused. The dealer didn’t explain clearly when asked how do you know when car is being powered by electric. He gave me an answer that I find hard to believe. You only get a mile or so on battery before the petrol kicks in?

I'm not sure which dealer you visited so I can't comment on them. However allow me to explain. On the dashboard there will be a little diagram with a wheel, a battery and an engine and arrows will indicate what is powering the wheels or feeding power to the battery. So if for example the arrow is pointing from the battery to the wheels it is powering the electric motor and moving the car. However the engine can still be sending power to the battery or to the wheel or in some cases both at the same time. If you are expecting any kind of decent full electric mileage then you would need a plug in hybrid as these typically have a battery 10x the size of a self charging hybrid such as the Jogger. What this setup is designed to take the heaviest loads off of the engine. So you will always start in full electric mode and typically in urban areas the car can rely on the electric motor where torque demand is typically low. When you need more power however or the battery has drained then the petrol engine will kick in to assist. At this point the car is up to speed and therefore if the engine is being used it will be at its most efficent. I hope this clears up some of the confusion you had around the powertrain setup.

@SMC Motor Group Wonderful explanation. I currently drive a 1.6 VW Passatt Estate 2016 diesel auto that I get around 34mpg about town. On long journeys this can go up to 50mpg. However those journeys are only twice a year. I'm trying to decide what is best for me and my current thinking is Plug in Hyprid. Thank you.

I currently have the 1 litre Jogger and I was very interested in the new hybrid version until I saw the price. I paid £18k for my Extreme SE model. If I went hybrid, its £24500. That's crazy when the engines power levels are so similar. For the sake of 9mpg, its not worth the extra cash

For you in your individual circumstances maybe not. But for someone else that extra 9 mpg might make the difference or the extra pulling power maybe helpful for someone else. The beauty of choice. Still considerably better than other hybrid 7 seaters on the market too. Current cheapest new one on Auto Trader is over £40k!!!

Great car, and with the more powerful engine it’s going to take off especially when the likes of Ford and Volkswagen are getting rid of their 7 seat models. This will become the new childminder car of choice. I wish Dacia would have some nicer colours though as this obsession with Greys and dark colours is a bit OTT. Bring back that nice metallic blue they had a few years back please.

Please Dacia release this with the 4 cylinder 1.3 TCE engine as seen in the duster. Seems like the 1.0L 3 cylinder isn’t up to the job pulling this car about fully loaded….

Rather than offer the 1.3, dacia will be launching a hybrid version with 140hp that will be cheaper than running the 1.3 but offer very similar performance.

The hybrid will offer better fuel economy, but This is Money has calculated the small saving in annual fuel bills will mean it takes over 31 years to recover the £5,450 additional cost of choosing the greener option!

The hybrid option is better than fitting the 1.3 TCe as I shall explain. The cost difference between a 1.0 manual Duster and the 1.3 TCe auto is £3350. If we added this cost to the price of the 1.0 manual Jogger, the cash price would be £22,595. £800 less than the hybrid powertrain offered. However if we look at their respective fuel efficiency on the WLTP cycle, the 1.3 engine achieves 44.8 mpg costing £1,541.41 over 10,000 per year. The Joggers hybrid engine achieves 56.5 mpg costing £1,222.21 over the same mileage and time, saving £319.20 a year. So in 3 years and 30,000 miles you will save £157.60 over the 1.3 TCe. Plus two additional years of road fund licence and that figure becomes £177.60 as alternative fueled cars get £10 off each year. So really the question comes down to whether you think the additional cost for more performance and an automatic gearbox is worth the money to you. To some it will and to some it won't, but its good to have options.

Although the hybrid can not have a spare wheel option due to the battery and is limited to 750kg tow weight as opposed to 1200kg for the 1.0. Seems to me it would still be a good option to allow buyers to choose the 1.3 engine with an auto box like the Duster… but by not doing so Hybrid sales will be boosted. A good marketing strategy which will help increase electric vehicle sales.

A lot of it has to do with manufactures having to hit CAFE targets for fleet average CO2 emissions. If they don't their fine is 80 euros per gram per car they are over.

That's because at the time we showed everything the manufacturer had given us which was just a handful of pictures. As it currently stands the car hasn't launched yet but as soon as I have a car here we will do a full detailed look at it for you.
