Have to give Dacia credit here, there are a lot of people that say they want a "small, back to basics simple car with no touchscreen nonsense" and, well, that's absolutely what their current range can offer you. Even in a tiny EV.

Fabulous car for the price and great review as ever, the only thing that lets it down is the insurance group of 24 for the 45hp and 25 for the 65hp, I know part of this is down to the lack of safety systems which makes it lighter as a result but ultimately it's going to be expensive to insure.
@petergibson231812 сағат бұрын
My Pizza delivery man asked me how I liked my Dacia Logan parked outside. He told me used to work in the factory that makes them in Romania. I immediately asked him how it is pronounced. He said “Dat-cha”. That’s from a Romanian…from the “horse’s mouth”. Dacia was an ancient kingdom occupying what is now Romania. The Roman Emperor Trajan erected Trajan’s Column in Rome in 115 AD to commemorate his victories in the Dacian Wars. Trajan’s Column is still standing to this day and was the “model” for thousands of other columns, including Nelson’s Column in Dublin. The Dacia Logan (now replaced by the Jogger) also has the window controls in the dashboard and for some reason has key access in the passenger door but none in the driver’s door. They must have forgotten about it when they moved the steering wheel from the left to the right.

I have a first gen (2021, 45hp edition) In spring/summer/autumn, in a hilly area (outside town) with infernal city traffic jams when getting into the city, for my daily commute of total round trip of 60km, I got 320km range. And 290km when running the AC. The true range killer is the heating. In 0°C I get around 150-170km per charge. In -10°C 120-140km per charge. (Still 8 times cheaper than a petrol car in similar traffic and route)

As you asked, you’re getting it totally arse-ways. It’s definitely “Da-Cha” (per the dealers). Our family car is a Dacia Logan and has been quietly brilliant, so I have a soft spot for them. Anyways, for the target audience that just need a city car and can home charge, this is a brilliant car full stop, forget it’s an EV. Just a little too small for me, but if/when they bring out a Sandero sized EV with no frills at a good price, I’ll bite their hand off.

Love the Spring as a good Honest product! It's a step in the right direction in purposefullness. I don't like the fad for SUV styling more range can be made with better aerodynamic efficiency. The extra few hundred euro for the cardboard boot divider and front boot box is completely outrageous . I respect that the Spring has 26kWh in under 1000kg is something to really observe after 15 years of where EVs were. Just a shame about the suv craze. the Spring closest thing to a Citroen Czero/Mitsubishi iMiEV shich i love, Analogue if possible, less faff less weight as possible, less profit gouging, not being over engineered to a fault. I trust that the bsttery monitering engineering of the Renault Zoe has carried on into this Dacia which is promising. The Dacia Spring makes me regret that its predecessor the Twingo/Smart Fortwo and older Twingos was given up on too soon because market says that people want bigger cars??? good quality cars are far fewer now like the VW eUP, Ford Ka and Fiesta, cars like the Fiat Panda which did not get the 500e platform.

2 years ago I saw the Dacia Spring in Paris, France being used as a shared car like GoCar, it must have taken 2 years to drive this 45bhp/65bhp to Ireland. On looking at the Dacia Spring in Paris 2 years ago a lot of the outside plastic trims had snapped off or broken like the centre plastic panel (b pilar trim) Then again as a shared vehicle it will be abused. The Irish Government won't like this cheap EV as no VRT, less VAT intake due to it's cheap price, no duty on the fuel as it's an EV

This is where Fiat should have gone with the Panda however it has a narrow operating envelope in terms of charging, range cruising ability and interior comfort but as a 2nd or 3rd household vehicle it has a place though many used EVs would be on my list before a new Spring. As a used proposition it might find its in some demandI just feel I would be happier with an UP MII etc. My 205 Diesel has a similar mere 60bhp is equally light and happily sits at motorway speeds does 600 miles on a tank and is adequately roomy much cheapness to run too.

Very informative, un-biased review. however if EV's were the future, they would not have to mandate them! Keeping current cars on the road, really is the most environmental way forward. If everyone kept car for 20 years, Less emissions. BTW That is a re-badged Tata Nexon or Renault KZE, which sells for £6045 OTR in India OTR. So a 300% rip off.
@NobbyOnCars21 сағат бұрын
Environmental perhaps but depends on emissions and if they’re serviced etc - the amount of older cars I see pumping out smoke because people won’t pay for the upkeep. Safety systems on 20 year old cars are not great either.
@timaustin200020 сағат бұрын
This is such a myth. Only 1/3 of all car emissions comes from build and disposal. 2/3 comes from fuel burnt. That's just the facts. The longer you keep it, the higher that 2/3 becomes and the more it pollutes. The longer you keep it, the less efficient the engine becomes and the more it pollutes per Km. Bernard: It's. A. Myth. Keeping an old car longer is NOT better than changing it for a less polluting one. But the petrol companies would sure love to persuade you of that,...

It has the same shell as those cars, but not much else - western versions are hugely upgraded. You can’t say a 300% rip-off, as other countries have completely different taxes, tariffs etc. It’s a shame, but a lot of the cost of cars here are not the car makers doing, it’s government taxes.
