The first redefining of jazz was Billie Holiday, and being a huge fan of Billie for many years, I've noted much of what she brought to heartfelt ballad singing is now back because of Angelina. This is proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, by Angelina's own words, for she places Billie on the furthest top of the pedestal that no one else is able to match when she said, 'There would be no Angelina if not for Billie Holiday'. Can you even comprehend what a statement that is? Angelina has heard all the A-list singers there are.......and she doesn't give any of them the credit she feels is owed to Billie. Maybe if more people would take the time to listen to Billie's library of recordings, they will understand what Angelina is talking about. Billie, a troubled young girl and woman, who made her self known by singing in Harlem night clubs, mentored by no one. Everything she brought to singing came directly from her own improvisations.

Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Angelina brings us her 6th original song and she has provided different genres, which is no surprise. I have no doubt Angelina will create her own genre in the years to come. Always great lyrics and ohhhhhhhhhh that voice!!! After reading the lyrics, I believe this song is part of the grieving process for Angelina and Mery. We shed millions of tears listening to "Million Miles" but that was the start of the grieving process. Now a few years later, this song shows we are ready to move forward while still remembering out departed loved ones. Love the smiles and little laugh between Angelina and Mery at the end of the video.

The car is a mid 1950s Porsche and her outfit and hair are mid 1960s and the song is like a modern retro with a nostalgic feel to it.
