Yes! Completely agree that she was telling him to clear off. Very interesting how subservient the father behaved; his way of telling her he meant no harm. My brothers Boerboel (dog) would snarl ferociously at his best friend the ridgeback if the ridgeback came anywhere near her whilst she was in severe pain from her dislocated hip and the ridgeback would stay well away. I think this mother cat is dismissive of the father cat for similar reasons as well instinctively protective of her kittens.

However there are some Tom's that have strong nurturing instincts who will clean & care for the Kitten's! I've worked with Cats Protection for 30+ years, I've worked with many Domestic cats, but mostly with Feral & while Mums out hunting the Tom will step in & will take over the caring of them 😊 its not normally this way & alot of cat Dads don't even know they have Kitten's! But this Video does show Tom's will look after & be supportive of Mum & he knows that's enough for him to know his babies are ok.. I Fostered 3 Kitten's who's Mother died at birth having her 4th which also passed away & basically I hand fed the kitties & Dad done a Wonderful of job of Washing, Caring, Loving & Snuggling them, it was truly Beautiful..

@@maxnottingham6374 Unfortunately, there are a few cat dads that do kill the kittens (who knows why ) and that is why mother cats can be very wary of the sire until they are sure the sire can be trusted. This was something that happened in my own home when I was 7 yrs old. I'll never forget being woken in the night to a huge cat fight and finding one of the poor little kittens lying separated from its tiny head on the laundry floor, before mum could drag me away. The mother cat was terribly distraught for a long time. The sire didn't belong to us but had access into the laundry. My mum felt so guilty for not realising this was a possible outcome.

My male cat Jake loved his babies so much! He used to stay with the babies instead of mom he'd get up to let her nurse then he'd come back and clean butts. He protected his little ones just as much as mom if not more. That's a great father you got there!

They are Scottish Fold cats. The folded ears are caused by a genetic defect in the formation of cartilage throughout the body. It means the cats get 'cute' ears, but may well develop serious joint problems in later life. It's a cruel breed, produced to please humans with an appealling look, regardless of the known health risks to the cats.

The faulty gene can cause such problems, that if a cat inherits it from both parents, it will suffer severely. To prevent this, folded-ear cats must be mated with straight-eared ones,. Roughly half the kittens will have one of the faulty genes and so develop folded ears. The rest of the kittens will inherit two normal genes, and have straight ears. The cats with only one faulty gene will still probably have problems, but not as severely as one with two faulty genes
