Abdoul, this is the same tough love I received from my dad when he found out my brothers and I had joined a gang. We weren’t fake gangsters, we did shit, we held the block and it was on site if the opps came through. My dad found out and, yeah no more gangs for us. We got worse than what 1st dad was doing. My father also told us that he would kill and bury us before he’d let the streets have us. He said he loved us to much to do nothing. He destroyed us, so much so we couldn’t go to school for three weeks to heal from it 😞 We never touched guns again, we never hung on the block, and if the gang spoke to us in front of Pop, they instantly regretted it. Kids aren’t raised like my brothers and I were anymore. My children saw less beatings, spankings and verbal abuse… kids today get none of that. I grew up with the entire neighborhood watching us, today people want you to “not correct their child!” Gone is the “It takes a village” mentality in parenting. I watched out for all the kids that ran in and out of my house, now if you are concerned you are labeled nosey, and a busy body 😒 And that is why school shootings are rising, nobody is watching out for these kids. The tough love is necessary because pain mentally and physically are the only things that kids will understand. But nowadays if you strike your child, you can be arrested. And the same justice system ready to throw you in jail for caring and trying to teach your kids right, is the same system blaming you when your kids are in the wrong. 🤷🏽‍♀️Until you become a parent Abdoul, you will never understand the trials of keeping your children safe in this world.

I was taught to be thorough in my discussions and in my writing, so I want him to understand what was at stake to my parents, my father in particular. And what the first father had at stake, his child. No one who doesn’t have children can truly understand what raising children in this world is like. It is a long comment but I half ass nothing.
