Just wanted to help clear up a little confusion you all seemed to have, Thancred HAS aether still otherwise he would be dead as it's been established that losing one's aether completely leads to death. However his time in the lifestream robbed him of his ability to MANIPULATE aether (like how Y'shtola lost her ability to see normally and can only see aether) so he's completely unable to use any forms of magic now which is why he always plays a melee style job (rogue then gunbreaker) and others like Minfilia and Y'shtola have to make his gunbreaker cartridges for him.

I always liked Thancred because I love tropes, and Thancred was a tropey ladies man (even though you can dig a little deeper into that) but this was when I fell in love with his character. A flawed man, but one full of love.

Man, I _love_ when they do story telling through fights like this. Especially with the roleplay instances. Having the strain put on Thrancred represented by actually being stunned and having showing how Ranjit overcomes Thancred's deception by knocking you out of it are nice touches.

They FINALLY used my translation for お前の相手は俺だ and I am SO happy someone else with clout figured it out. Also it's interesting that you either missed or ignored the biggest sign. Thancred *dropped his weapon* . The gunblade he first picked up *specifically* to protect Minfilia. Also what they roughly translate as Gukumatz is basically the Mayan equivalent of Quetzalcoatl. He formed a service pact with a god.

I mean, I always though of him as a monk... and then, creepy-grumpy-granddad, the sort of guy you are embarrast your friends to meet. And if he's the precurser for reaper, he's double dps... Also explains how he cant dmg Thancred and why Thancred needs so long to get the job done: the one guy cant dmg the tank, and the tank doesnt do any dmg XD

It (likely) won't be a regular thing. This time I felt it was needed since I had to end the previous MSQ video before they had the proper discussion about the cutscene, otherwise the runtime would've been way too long. So this one opens with that discussion and a bit of context was needed. And also, inspiration just hit y'know -Editor.
