I mean, she was clearly manipulated by her father during many of her formative years. Her brain literally developed according to how she was being made to act. It’s not hard to believe that she still thinks what he did was right/for a good cause, etc.; she hasn’t been to therapy, she is literally still in the same place she was as a child-and that is under her father’s thumb. There’s a lot of rewiring of the brain that needs to happen there but first she must accept that her father is awful, that he killed her mother, that he manipulated her into doing heinous things… That’s a very hard first step to overcome.

@@Alaryicjude There were probably so many lies and manipulation, too. When you're 9, you don't have critical thinking skills to question if your dad tells you over and over again that everyone else is evil/wrong, and it's just you guys against everyone else. I had a very emotionally, verbally, and physically abusive parent who constantly pushed this narrative that "no one else cares about you," "I'm doing this because we can only count on ourselves," "everyone else will try to turn you against me," blah blah blah. And my childhood was nowhere near as extreme as this case, so I can't imagine how much worse it must have been for Anna behind closed doors.
