It's a little mind blowing to see Hobi to be such a goofy, funny guy and fearful of lot of things when in reality he is so tough that he got promoted early in his military training to Corporal bec of his exceptional skills and graduated with high honors in the military. He is now an assistant drill instructor just like Jin.. Actually the members of BTS are doing very well in their military service.. 😊 So proud of them.

01:35 they did a cringe but hilarious prank on the boys in the early days where they were told to dance in the elevator as it went up and down but at the time there was an urban myth of a crying girl (ghost?) who would get on elevators. I guess they were supposed to be scared because it was a potential poltergeist but instead they were just scared and awkward because it was a girl (except Jin who back then, and arguably still, was the only one with any modicum of riz).

Hobi, my bias, is our sunshine for real, but actually has also a very serious side. He's extremly disciplined, dedicated and full of passion for his crafts. He started chapter 2 with his album "Jack in the Box" and his songs "More" and "Arson" illustrate that dedication quite clearly (read the lyrics). In the early days those funny things with him might have been indeed more of a mask, SUGA once said that j-hope was the most depressed actually. He himself said at some point that he felt he can't show himself fully as the fans won't like him. But his chosen stage name became like an omen for him, he grew into the real authentic positivity, it's not a mask anymore and boys have shared their other sides with us, and it only made us love them more not less as they appear extremly authentic and relatable. One of my most beloved habits of him is his loud ass laughter that takes over his whole body and he usually throws himself on the floor, I wish my body wasn't as numb as it is, and I could laugh with my whole body again too (it's not a Depression with me, but I have Chronic Fatigue Sydrom since a decade and it totally robs my energy levels).

JHope IS our sunshine vitamin pill. Even the guys have said that. He and Jimin were roommates a long time, and Jimin was so glad and said he would have been lonely without JHope. I don’t like to assign parental gender roles... but JHope is the mom of the macnae line (3 youngest - Vkookmin). Out of the hyungs (oldest 4) you will often find him hanging out with the youngest 3. Even looking at their pictures at an exhibition he said... These are my boys. I raised them... and commented on each of them. Suga is more of the dad... but Hobi can be a taskmaster when necessary. Both of them fuss over their chicks at times though. Both cook and make sure their babies eat. Very early Jin was the main cook as no one was doing it. He talked about how Suga only ate to survive and would blend cooked chicken breasts & juice to make a protein smoothie. So Jin took charge of cooking. But later on trips it is Suga that takes charge of shopping money, budgeting, and in charge of cooking... Chef Min. Hobi is always right in there, too. Jin took on more of the fun big brother then. RM is the leader... but ALL of them help take care of him.

Especially that when he joined Big Hit others said later that they had never seen so depressed boy. - and him Big Hit decided to put into a role of "Sunshine" ? Sometimes I wonder how he survived those first years before the role lightened up his actual personality.. Or his personality got mixed with his role, because they had no time to be "themselves" .
