This album made me cry once it finished. My eyes opening after the last song made me realize the story, and how Cole made me understand situations I’ve never been in.

I think knowing the reason behind the album makes it 100% better. J cole is narrating an old friends life James McMillan Jr after he was killed. The album was meant for james's daughter. GOAT

I totally get that, one of my friends just had a baby and I played this for him, cuz I thought he would relate Called me the next day like that was the most relatable song he’d ever heard Sometimes, it’s when someone accurately explains this feeling most can’t explain and/or put into words And Cole did that with this. That feeling of having a baby. And it becoming your entire world

@@amanSpawn00 that’s awesome I hope you gave your friend a big ass hug lol. kids change everything! I won’t call it a job cuz I’ll never consider my kids a job. But parenthood is the most stressful, exhausting and most rewarding commitment/responsibility a human can experience ✊🏽

The meaning of Ville mentality was the mindset of niggas in fayetteville NC. It’s where j cole is from. i grew up and currently live here. It’s prideful, “give up my chain never” + the kid saying she wishes she had her dad there. A lot of killing. it’s rough on the wrong sides here.

Awesome reaction! I think this project is amazing. It didn't get a lot of recognition when it was released but I loved how different it was from his other projects. Very emotional and vulnerable. I wonder how KOD would be received by Pop's due to the trap production. However he touches on important topics as well. Window Pain and Once an Addict still give me goosebumps! 😬

Please do more songs from his mixtapes like too deep for the intro or the last call (not the kanye song) they are honestly some of his best work if you truly listen to the words, his flow and storytelling is insane on those. The two main ones are friday night lights and the warm up if you are curious, both fully can be found on yt and are truly worth the full listen through, any other suggestions just ask cuz ive heard just about every J Cole song, they arent as message based but they paint more of a picture about how he came up and who he is. One of my favorites is enchanted
