I dropped out of college in January of 04. This I felt like a loser. My mom being an educator I felt I broke her heart. I was really in a bad place. This album saved my life. I’ve watched the two episodes of the documentary which was the making of TCD. Seeing him with his mom who was also an educator. Brought tears to my eyes. My mother has supported everything I’ve done. It took a while to figure things out. But seeing Kanye’s early path and hearing this album brings back memories.

Last call is a production masterpiece. Every time something good happens in the story he tells he adds another layer to the production, and every time something bad happens he removes it. I’m a huge kanye fan, and have dove into his discography myself. But seeing you two look at into and shine light onto different aspects is so sick. With a younger mind influencing his father, showing him “what the kids think” is so cool to see and it’s so relatable. Bring a creative and visionary, something I struggle with is getting my dad or older people to truly understand

The fact that you're vibing with good flows like that naturally now and they hit you the same way a good solo does means you're really getting a grasp on this hip hop thing lol Really connecting with music in that way is so crucial to understanding a genre or artist's intentions fully on an emotional level, and your observations and feedback are spot on for someone who started about a year ago. Which brings me to my point: it's time you listened to Death Grips. I'm kidding, obviously they're worth recommending but only when you're ready. Huge Kanye fan here! Just wanted to add that “All Falls Down” is the reason I became a Kanye fan. It originally was a poem called “Self Conscious” and he performed it on Def Poetry Jam. Seeing him perform it as a poem was life changing for me. Sounds a little weird, but the die hard Ye fans know what I mean. His music has got me through the hardest times in my life and it’s gotten me through the best times of my life. Thank you for showcasing his work. Also, plot twist, I am a die hard Billy Joel fan. It’s all about balance, right? He is an amazing artist and composer that I never see anyone react to. Just saying!

@1:04:56 on Family Business when he talks about 'But you ain't have to tell my girl I used to pee in the bed' its a funny line for sure, but it also goes a little deeper. That whole verse is a reference to Ghostface Killah's "All That I Got Is You". That section of the song matches up so perfectly it's like it's a response from the other side of the family. Ghostface Killah - All That I Got Is You Check it, fifteen of us in a three bedroom apartment Roaches everywhere, cousins and aunts was there Four in the bed, two at the foot, two at the head I didn't like to sleep with Jon-Jon he peed the bed Kanye - Family Business And you don't wanna stay there 'cause them your worst cousins Got roaches at their crib like them your first cousins Act like you ain't took a bath with your cousins Fit three in the bed while six of y'all I'm talkin' 'bout three by the head and three by the leg But you ain't have to tell my girl I used to pee in the bed

Can’t get enough of these reviews man. Good to see two genuine non ego people have at it just pure listening. One first time and the other already listened is cool as. I don’t know if you tally the recommendations and then go from there but I think after the full proper release of Faces by Mac it would be really great to go through. Debatably his best project as argued by the community from what I’ve seen over the years. Obviously Circles and Swimming would be great to do but I feel Faces would be great to start to do is semi-chronologically like you’re doing Kanye. Keep em’ coming dudes!
@mistayouneek3 жыл бұрын
Agree with Faces being a great recommendation. IMO I think that would be the best introduction to Mac for him as opposed to Swimming or Circles. Faces is the most raw and authentic version of Mac and his talents Although I would wish they would get ahold of the OG mixtape version as the officially released recent version has been touched a bit and a lot of the samples used weren't cleared

When I tell people Kanye's my favorite artist of all time, people are perplexed because they have never heard of his older albums like College Dropout. His production is so rich and flavorful, full of amazing samples, and his lyrics are so creative and imaginative, being so honest and deep while keeping the whole thing light-hearted and witty. His first few albums changed my life in igniting my passion for music and hip-hop in general, so I'm glad you showed your dad this and he clearly loved it!

I think you should have told your pops that “through the wire” was Kanye’s first ever single. Also that Kanye workout plan was a single that gots lot of radio play. Jesus walks also a single and got tons of radio play. He was on punked on the video set of Jesus walks.... but maybe the most important point was that Kanye was seen by his peers as just a producer. And that they didn’t think his rapping skills were good enough to break through. And how his sound really changed the sound of hip hop to soul sampling. Great video though love introducing people to Kanye who only know his more recent... craziness
