Beautiful car and a Beautiful story Bruce, my first car was my mom and dads 69 impala with a 327 also, i had it until 1993, wish i still had it, But Dad bought a new Chevrolet c10 pickup in 1982 when i was a junior in high school, i had the truck restored in 2007, a year before he passed away, garaged and in in beautiful condition, he got to see it before he passed and loved it, so i just love your story, and yes no amount of money would take it away, thank you for posting your story, :)

My FIRST CAR! my dad bought it from my uncle for $100 and it was a convertible too! I'm 60 this year and I have missed that car since I went into the navy in 1972,,, thought I needed somthing newer,,, but nothing since has got me Over my 62 Impala Conv. love your story, and you will never part with yours I'm sure!! where is my car?

I did a search for the car's story. How interesting especially of your parents when they were young and you were just a little guy. BTW your mom was a looker. I really like your car's stance. The upgrades you've done not only enhance its looks but also its performance. Not enough can be said about this cars family heritage and how you have kept it so pristine. Congratulations.

When i was a little kid, we had a 58 rambler wagon. Then we got a 1962 Bel air 4 door. Every time we went for a ride my dad would say, man oh man this car has a lot of guts!.

My first car (after my sister totaled a 55 Chev I was going to get) was a stock 62 Impala SS coupe (283, 2sp powerglide), all red, bucket seats with a factory storage box in between. I would have loved it even more if it was a convertible. Luckily my mom had a 64 Corvair convertible (I learned to use a stick in). ;-)

Thanks for all the nice comments. Dennis, I watched your video, so awesome to know someone else still has a car with as much family history as mine. I have been looking for a 65 SS project car, that is one of the best looking body styles from the 60's. My first car was going to be a 65 SS 327 four speed that belonged to my dad's friend, but his kid totaled it just before I bought it back in high school. Post more videos.

I was wanting a 65 impala but there is a white 62 impala with a 396 big block for sale and all it needs is an interior! When I first saw my neighbor's white 1965 impala, I fell in love with the body style. It just sounds so nice!

Too bad your Dad hadn't waited a year to buy his new car. LOL While I like a '63 better, this is a great '62. And it has a great backstory. I like how you modernized it some with safety like brakes and better suspension, yet kept true to its vintage roots. Most would never know it isn't original, and that's OK, because from what you said about your Dad and uncle swapping engines around and such, you are being true to their spirit and not some restoration group. I also like how you got the wheels to spin backwards at 6:12 - LOL. The interview from you Mom is great, it adds so much to the family history of the car. It is beautiful, you have done well with it, and thanks for sharing. BTW, I came here from your Cruising Route 66 video.

Very cool, your dad had good taste buying an Impala SS 4-speed! I just picked up a '60 Bel Air, but it doesn't have this story behind it. We do have a '57 DeSoto that has been in our family since new.

@@bfimpala yes... Just had it gone through. I love the 62... I had one in the 90's. 409 4spd , also had a 63 409... Both SS... Currently have 57 Pontiac, 48 Dodge 3w coupe, 64 C10, 72 C10, 76 Camaro, which is my high school ride.... I got it bad ☺️

TheRealMcCoy98 17 x 7 and 17 x 8 I don't like big wheels, I think these are about right.
