Forgiveness of your dad isn't optional, it's mandatory. And God can take your new life and destroy everything you have if you don't give in and give Dad a second chance. According to Matthew 6:14-15, a person who doesn't forgive others will not be forgiven by God. In the verses, Jesus states: "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." In Matthew 18:20-35, Jesus further expounded upon the theme, after his disciple, Peter, asked him how many times he should forgive a person. Jesus' response was telling: "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. I'm sorry Sarah but I would not be friends with you at this point if you didn't change your standards and let your father back into your life, no conditions. Did you forget the part where God gave humans free will? He allows humans to decide for themselves if they want to forgive someone. Ultimately, God grants forgiveness because he knows imperfect people will make mistakes.

What is wrong with compassion and understanding?? Yes, the father made mistakes but he was CON by a PRO. He lost everything because of it. To keep blaming him for it years later is just mean and spiteful.
