My life was in medicine. Had no time for any pets. Then I fell sick and had to retire. I was in a deep depression, felt useless. My daughter got a boerboel puppy and asked me to pupsit him while she was at work. Reluctantly, I did. Four years later, Zeus, (I call him Juicey) and I, are inseparable! He's my best friend and companion. We walk, sleep and eat together. I am in awe of him. He's noble and loyal and he's a clown! He makes me laugh! He's the light of my life and I thank God everyday that I have the honour of Juicey loving me.

I had the same issue. I used to own lots of dogs during my younger years. Now that I’m a dad my kids wanted to have one. I always veer away from it as I know the huge responsibility it needs to own one (not to mention the financial part of it) Then a family friend gifted us a puppy (baby German Shepard/ Husky) We treated her like family. Had lots of enjoyable experience with her but when the time came when Sheba was too old and had a lot of complications, we had to put her down. It was very heart wrenching That was my number one reason why I wouldn’t want to own one. Pros and cons. We love her but at the same time it’s difficult to let go. 😥

Hello there , I used to work at a rehoming centre for animals , and we would often meet people who didn’t want another dog (but were looking!) because of the grief of losing a loved one more than a pet a member of the family , this pain I know all too well unfortunately, but it’s part of the cycle of life , it’s clear to me reading between the lines I suspect your a very loving caring person, I believe it’s not fare to dogs for people like you not to have them in your life , they’ve won the lottery and so will you , please don’t give up on dogs , we have years and years of fun , love, cuddles , let’s not forget the times when they chew up something or misbehave but it’s all part of living with a family member we put up with because we love them unconditionally, please get another dog you deserve each other, but know your limits I lost my Akita a few years back and I grieved I cried …..I’m older now and have health issues I now am owned by 2 chihuahuas and a French bulldog to manipulate me everyday!! LoL best thing I done!! Hope you consider getting another dog and take care👍

What a beautiful friendship, dogs are truly god’s gift to us. When my father retired from the Navy, he really struggled for quite some time. I had an Australian Blue Heeler who picked upon on his darkness and would never leave his side when we visited. Dad lit up every time we visited. So I made the decision to get my pup to stay with him permanently and it was the best move we ever made. I got my father back and I still see my pup all the time. Hence why I am now a Vet Nurse ☀️

Same case with me as well, From childhood I was much found of dogs. I tried all tricks thousand times to have dog. But he couldn’t agree.. I used to collect every single penny so that I can get dog. After completing my graduation my mom went to US to see my sister and dad used to work in other city and used to come during weekend. I thought it’s do or die let me get GSD. Bought him to home. During weekend used to lock him in my bedroom to hide him from dad. One day, instead of Saturday my dad arrived on Friday and I was out for a while kept the bedroom open so that my pet can freely move in entire house. Dad entered the house got to know that I have bought puppy. He beaten me like anything and asked to return it. I was thrown out of the house for 2 days. Somehow my mom was able to convince dad though no one used to like pet except me. In those 2 days dad got attached to that puppy. It dint take much time for all of my family members to get attached with him. My pet changed entire world for us. I lost him in oct 19 having a life span of 14 years. We couldn’t save him with many effort as he had developed tumour near brain. I miss him every moment of my life. I won’t believe on god but if he exist just have only one request to him give back my cutie GSD without him I don’t feel world is beautiful..

In my case I have a pet rabit he's 3 yrs old now and intensively bond with my dad does the same not as much active as a dog but yes.. absolute relaxation to watch him happy when dad gets back home 🐇

Your Dad played with your pet just like a child. I used to play with my beloved Pomerania dog Pintu, the way your dad did. When my got to know I am coming,(from college)he stretches his body, ready to play . I wish pets were allowed in the park, back in nineties.
