I never loved anything in particular growing up so school helped me to learn a whole bunch of things and do well in my job now. School helps you to learn to find answers and even if you think you dont use that information you probably do.

I went to college an hour away from my neighborhood to study Mechanical Engineering because I wanted to make hella money to fund philanthropic changes I wanted to make in my community, studying that taught me how to research and study...while being at a university taught me how to get involved in organizations bigger than myself as well as gave me the opportunity to interact with diverse people from all over. I transferred to a college 6 hours away for aerospace engineering because it paid higher, where i got exposed to life outside of not only my city...but my state and region. I also got even more involved and this is when I found my passion for environmental justice and education so I switched my major to environmental science and agricultural engineering. 8 years later, as a environmental scientist, i get paid to conduct socioeconomic research on how POC are affected by climate change as well as run my own organization teaching environmental education to marginalized Black communities around the midwest....college did that❤

I get Chaz’s point but I feel like it’s often the perspective of people who hadn’t graduated college. For me, I went into community college with the intention on being an architecture engineer, after taking random classes I switched to wanting to be an art teacher. That too changed as my electives changed and I found a passion for marketing. My degree ended up being in mass communication and I work in marketing currently. Yes did I have a ton of classes that weren’t focused on my initial passion. Ultimately I learned what I liked by taking those pointless classes…. I also graduated from a 4yr as well.

I noticed it's usually people in the entertainment industry that say you don't need college. It's kind of sad they don't realize the importance of going to college and just base life on how much money you can make.

Yeah. All of them are entertainers and don't really get just how the world really works sometimes. I don't think you need school but many careers are behind degrees. Trades do need to make a larger comeback

My mom was big on NOT relying on the school to teach me everything. Like yea you gotta go to the classes and pass them, but it's outside the school where you get exposed to other stuff and interests etc. And you can become a well-rounded individual from those "bullshit classes"

You need a degree from a accredited law school to become a lawyer in addition to passing the bar...

I think most people who don’t care about grades weren’t making good ones… Many people have great business ideas but fail because they don’t have the education to run a business. You can hire someone, but if you don’t know the fundamentals, they can rob you blind.

I say several times education is important... the school system and college isn't the only way the world works. Again....education is important... not the same thing as "school"

Lawyers have to 1. Get a 4yr degree 2. Pass the LSAT to get into law school 3. Complete Law School 4. Pass the bar. I know many Black people who went to college with me who are lawyers now. I just wanted to put a little respect on their hard work.

The main problem is our education system is pitiful. We really aren't meeting the needs scholastically anymore. We lack balance in educating students on important aspects of life as well as scholarly subjects that build the foundation for more understanding of the world

Chaz if you don’t care about Izzy getting good grades or trying hard in school because you think it’s pointless, please homeschool her. Teachers don’t deserve to have to deal with trying to convince kids their schoolwork it’s important when their parents are telling them otherwise. If you feel that way, keep your kids home. Don’t use school as a cheap daycare.

Teaching my daughter to build her own system. Letting her know there’s options. I don’t discourage her from school or grades, I encourage her to build her own and think for her self. School teaches school. I teach her life. That’s how I feel 🤷🏾♂️
