@@natureclearlyI've never heard of Cellar spiders here being referred to that name here. Since leaving my last residence and moving into a new one I had never seen Cellar spiders before, or I didn't notice them at least. In my last residence I saw plenty of House Spiders and Giant House Spiders. I was taught from a very early age not to fear them. However, spiders I don't recognise or I have searched up and look familiar to ones that you don't want to be bitten by, like false widows, I take outside.

Cellar spiders are the most friendly, u got to remember, they have the most potent venom but they cant bite us cuz their mouths are too small but they still can destroy even a black widow
@Right_Said_Brett5 ай бұрын
@@ybgglxcky2546 That's actually just a myth. The cellar spider's venom is quite weak. However, they are capable of trapping other insects and spiders in their webbing to an extremely impressive degree, coupled with the fact that their legs are longer than most spiders; both them a huge advantage in being able to take down insects larger and tougher than themselves.

Used to have a fly problem a long time ago at a place I lived. Was a side effect of dog poop. Never really had time to clean up super frequently so we'd get times where flies were terrible. So, we simply stopped cleaning up the spider webs. Pretty soon the cellar spider population expanded, and then we never had fly problems again. We have an accord. As long as they aren't setup in the trafficked portions of the room, they get left alone.

I have a few cellar spiders within my abode and I am usually quite happy to leave them be (I even name them). However, the other day I saw a cellar spider carrying an egg sac within its mouth. It was adorable but I simply couldn't allow 30 or so baba spiders to hatch within my home. I used a glass and a bit of cardboard to put the mama and her babas outside. I felt bad to be honest, but one has to draw the line in the sand at some point.

I found a brown recluse in my apartment a few years back and learned that cellar spiders are prolific hunters of pests, including brown recluses. Cellar spiders are now welcome to stay near front door and eat all the brown recluses they want. I've also made the connection that if I'm finding cellar spiders lingering around my apartment, I have enough unwelcome guests I didn't know about lingering that are keeping it fed. If there weren't enough bugs and spiders to eat there, it would have left. So again, it's free to stay here.

Daddy longlegs, or harvestmen, are familiar Missouri animals. They are not spiders, but opilionids. Unlike spiders, they have a fused body form and lack silk and venom glands. In harvestmen, the body is a simple oval, and it's usually hard to tell where the “head” ends and the segmented “abdomen” begins.

I have arachnophobia. Seriously. (I couldn't put my hand on a colour photo of a spider even if you offered me £500 to do so). But I'm *not* afraid of cellar spiders. In fact I leave their webs alone in my home unless they get too big and then I flick some away with a duster making sure I leave the resident spider alone. The reason I let them be and in fact *welcome* them? They *hunt* the huge house spiders which invade my home every autumn. If I see a house spider in my bedroom, I cannot turn off the light unless I've managed to trap it and put it outside. One hid in my dressing gown and I didn't know until I went downstairs to clean my teeth (old house with downstairs bathroom) and saw it out of the corner of my eye walking on my shoulder.😱 After I'd stopped throwing up and crying and gone back upstairs to put on my other dressing gown (I cannot wear the 1st one again until I have washed it) I inspected the sink and everywhere around it to make sure the spider had gone, in order to be able to clean my teeth. 2 days ago, there was a whopper of a house spider on the ceiling in the living room but it was at the opposite end to where I sit. This afternoon, I spotted it right above my PC, all trussed up like a neat little package, in the web of one of my 'guardians' , the cellar spider who lives up there. If you are afraid of the nasty, big, hairy legged spiders, let Pholcidae live with you and build their webs. They will keep you safe.

As a former arachnophobe, I used to be absolutely terrified of these guys and gals when I was younger, but as an adult, I tend to leave them be since they keep the local mosquito population in check and those are far more annoying than occasionally walking into a web that these little fellas will have spun between some of the planters and vine supports in my backyard we have as part of our vegetable garden.

Should I just leave them with the egg sack? or should I draw a line with that? Shall I let them hatch in my home?

They are helpful spiders, yes, but their poo sticks to the floor and is hard to clean.

I have always called them cob web spiders untill today and watching your video. I had always been a little scared by them. But in the past 5 - 6 years i have come to kind of like them. I finally realized that they were harmless to us, and that they were just doing their thing. If i find them in a bad spot. I clear out the web a time or two, and the spider will take the hint and move on to a better location.

Do they eat and recycle their webs? I like them and check on mine daily. They seem to move into each others webs. Maybe communal or mating

Hi , I have possibly thousands of cellar spiders in my house , the ones in my bedroom have names , there's big Veronica and Vera , I've seen everything they do and I really do love them they eat giant house spiders I don't like them because they wander and they're aggressive , Veronica and Vera s eggs have just hatched , occasionally one of them will come down on a strand of web and stay near my face I'm sure they're there to say hello then they go back up to Thier massive web around my bedroom , they see me every day from birth they are not scared of me , the babies are cute , I love the mothers carrying her egg ball around with her , I heard they were called cave spiders a long time ago , thanks for showing your video .

I am from the Netherlands and I have these in my home. Besides that they make a mess of my cealing they are allowed in my house just like all the other non venom spiders. In fact they also keep the bugs and muskieto's out.

They are great with unwanted insects! I couldn't be more proud of our Pholcus when I saw him enjoying eating mosquitoes this summer as well!

I have a spider in my room. Been in the corner for a year now, idk if its male or female as i haven't checked. I just leave it be. I havent noticed other types of spider in my room, or insects, unless they're wrapped in its web.
