He may not have psychosis but There are several mental health disorders. Bipolar alone has states of acute mania, mixed mood state, acute major depression etc. Even Schizophrenia has three phases: prodromal (or beginning), active and residual. He may be making a lot of sense now but not always. I would still recommend he get psychiatric evaluation

I always say that in Africa most of the mad people roaming on the street just have dementia/Alzheimer’s but since we lack the resources to manage and care for them they are left around in the streets.I have been exposed to dementia patients I always say they are no different from my own people in Africa who are being referred to as mad people but the only difference is that theirs are managed better.I believe with more awareness ,public education and the appropriate care and facilities when it comes to mental illness and health people like this man would be better .
