Another trick you could use for those of you with wii u's, the wii u gamepad has a sensor on the very top. Plug the wii u charger to your computer and connect the wii u gamepad and then bam that's your sensor.

@@Ego-Fiend He's just saying as a sensor bar, not necessarily a screen. Many games supported by the Wii U give the OPTION to use a TV, or the Gamepad, or both simultaneously, and I'm fairly certain at least 2 of those options are given when playing a Wii game.

i dont get it u can legit use any sensor even without being connected to the pc i literally plugged my wii in connected the wiimote to the pc and let bar be the sensor and play on pc and cursor still showed in dolphin and after that tried candles same effect

Yup! There's lots of ways to do it. Though the most important thing is being able to connect directly to the pc and subsequently, having bluetooth on your pc. The Dolphinbar is just easy. And nonflammable.

Use ZaDig software to pair 3rd party Wiimotes from China. Also turn off your Wiimote speaker in the Dolphin settings or it will cause disconnections if you are using cheap Chinese Wiimotes.

As much as I have to admit that many games would never feel the same without it, I have one issue that's not mentioned very often. With the sensor bar, I get some input latency that can be pretty bothersome. What can I do to get rid of that input lag? If you have a solution that'll solve this problem, that would be excellent. You do not need an extra bluetooth dongle when you have the Dolphinbar. From what I've read, 3rd party wiimote support with the Mayflash Dolphinbar is spotty and so not always guaranteed to work. If it's at all possible for you, official Wiimotes are always recommended for a slew of reasons.

Hi, I have Bluetooth in my PC and my Wiimote (Motion Plus Inside) works amazing on the latest dolphin versions. Is it still worth buying the Dolphinbar in comparison to a cheap sensor bar? I see many reviews that it doesn't work with Motion plus inside Wiimotes on the latest dolphin versions. Now I need to use at least version 5.0-10056 to get motion input working properly because of the support for motion plus inside Wiimotes. I also read that you can use a Wii sensor bar powered via a Wii which made me think that I don't a high en sensor bar like this. Any advice for me?

you dont need to spend money on expensive sensor bars at all, i actually use a homemade one just using infrared led's and a battery, or you can use candles since the flame emits infrared.

I would suggest getting the Dolphinbar because of just how easy it is. Mayflash is a good name in the industry and I trust their quality more than others. However feel free to try and save some money by getting cheaper bars, but my suggestion: if you're using wiimotes on Dolphin emulator, go for the Dolphinbar. Thank you for your kind words, friend! Maximum effective IR range of the Dolphinbar is about 20 feet, if you don't move much. For games that have lots of wide-range movement and/or multiple simultaneous players, I would shorten that up to about 16 feet. But the input range (simple button presses) was at least double that for me, and according to bluetooth specs-the wiimote being bluetooth version 2.0-the maximum input range could be up to 20 metres. This would be the best and safest way, yes. That is to say you should search "wiimote candle trick" if you haven't before, marvel at this technological feat, then acquire a bluetooth adapter and test your luck with open flames.

No question is a bad question when you seek to understand! The difference between pc and a laptop is none, just make sure your device's specs are up to par if you haven't played on Dolphin yet before. Also the physical orientation of where you put the bar doesn't particularly matter and that's something you'll figure out once you get the bar. Cheers!

It does have a "mouse & keyboard" option. In fact it has 2 for some odd reason. So yes, in theory, you should be able to play certain non-Dolphin games. However you don't need the Dolphinbar in order to use your Wiimote for keyboard controls. And you're also going to want a much more in-depth controller remapping method than what the Dolphinbar provides out-of-the-box. I would recommend you check out this program called touchmote, as well as another one called JoyToKey. There's a pretty good tutorial on this HILARIOUS dude, Basically Homeless' channel, that does a better job at really going in-depth on how to configure your wiimote for pretty much anything: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJvKdKmFm7aYoZo I'm a little skeptical as to his reasoning for using 2 wiimotes but watch that vid and do your best. Also be careful when remapping the motion controls because the wiimote is veeerry sensitive and will continuously trigger those inputs unless the wiimote is completely motionless and on a flat surface. I don't know what happens for real wiimotes.. ut all I can say i,s it doesn't work with my 3rd party wiimote. I can use my wiimote by the saofware zadig to play over the "passthough a bluetooth adapter" option. ( only pointer doesn't work. ut can use 2 candles or ordinary led usb sensor bar is ok for it. When I use the mayflash sensor bar W010 it connects with my 2 wiimotes but can't use it to match with dolphin as using emulated wiimote option !!! When i choose emulated ; you can configure the buttons A, B , + , - , home but the motion plus and pointer doesn't work. Any suggestion ????

I later learned that the Dolphinbar has difficulties connecting third-party wiimotes. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If it doesn't work for you, then you are indeed better off trying the candle trick and connecting via bluetooth.

I have actually tried that! Unfortunately it's next to impossible as far as I care. It requires you to remap default pc controls to a wiimote, which IS impossible without third party software; pretty well all programs/games won't recognize a wiimote as a generic input device. There are several pieces of software that I'm aware of that you can do this with, most notably one called "Touchmote." It's a VERY sensitive program though so if you do decide to gander at that one, have a flat surface right next to you and have your finger on "End Task" the entire time hahaha.

Well I guess it's retrospect now but all you really needed was a bluetooth adapter to at least ATTEMPT what it is you wanted to do. Because I highly doubt any games you try and configure the wiimote for would have any reason to be able to utilize the IR sensitivity. Motion controls are mappable though, but like I said, it can be really weird and bad haha

hey mate, thanks for your video, i purchased one of these as ive just set up a theatre room, and all the devices (included the original wii console) is at the back of the room (opposite of the screen). I was looking for wireless/ after market sensors and the dolphin bar seemed to be the best make and closest to the original bar in terms of the amount of LEDS and something that can be plugged into a USB point at the front of my room. Do you know if the dolphinbar can be used as a normal sensor for the Wii console? As far as i know the original wii sensor is just a group of leds that let the wii controller know where its pointed and the cable that feeds the wii sensor is just power. Basically im just trying to replace the original Wii sensor but be plugged into a USB adaptor via wall power plug instead of plugging straight into the Wii console... If i have confused you please let me know and ill try and explain again.

However I would imagine the problems you're facing are possibly coming from low-end PC hardware because of your notebook. Also this may seem more obvious but just to cover our bases here, I would suggest also checking the battery levels of the Wiimotes. You may also be facing issues if your Wiimotes are not official, Nintendo-brand Wiimotes. If you are using 3rd-party controllers, I would always recommend getting your hands on the real deal. Well with a shortage such as this, you have a few options: 1. Search up "wii candle trick" on KZbin 2. If you have an original wii and its sensor bar, your pc will actually work with that bar plugged into the wii! The OEM wii sensor bar only needs an external power source, and the wiimote is the only thing transceiving signals for the wii system; the wii does nothing more than supply power to the bar.

Snowball another option (witch is what I did) is to buy a third-party usb sensor bar. There are some good ones on amazon, but be careful. I got one that came ever so slightly bent, and I am now returning it and buying a different one, with better reviews. If you can, get the dolphin bar when it becomes available, if it isn’t any time soon, just buy a usb one with good reviews.

The Wii Remote connects correctly (Dolphine 5.0) but often shuts down and I have to reconnect it! Why does this happen? The "continuous scan" is on and so is the bluetooth ... maybe I don't have to move too far away from the computer to not lose the bluetooth connection?

No, not from what I've seen. You could try and find something that mounts like a webcam but instead of a camera it's just a platform, then use a really good adhesive, to slap the bar down onto it. If such a product exists. That's all the advice I've got.

They seem to be hit-or-miss, erring on the side of miss... There's really no formula (that I'm aware of) that will guarantee your 3rd-party wiimote will work.

To pair multiple wiimotes, yes, simply pair them one by one. Keeping in mind that third-party wiimotes must use the "emulated" wiimote option. If you're still struggling with pairing them to your pc, simply retry a few times; sometimes it just takes a few tries for the device to show up on the menu, even on a pc that already had wiimotes paired before.

Hello I have the Mayflash Magic NS, I'm trying to connect the wii remote via PC. But it's not doing the refresh and vibrating thing. But I'm able to configure it on using the emulated wii settings. Depending on your version of Dolphin, I would suggest downloading a newer version, and making sure that when connecting the Wiimotes to Dolphin, only the Wiimote controller ports you want to fill are open (i.e. "Wii Remote 1" turned to "Real Wiimote"), while the rest are turned to "None". And then just open the rest of the ports you want one by one.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but once I connected the controller to the Mayflash Dolphinbar and hit refresh, it didn't vibrate and whenever I try playing games none of the inputs are detected. And I don't think it's something wrong with the controller because when I put it on emulated Wii remote instead of real wii remote and start putting in the inputs there it detects them. Are there any solutions or answers to this?

You are likely using a 3rd-party controller, and from what I've heard, Dolphinbar support for 3rd-party Wiimotes is hit-or-miss. Meaning some work and some don't and you won't really know unless you try. At least, that is until you use Bluetooth Passthrough mode. Refer to Dolphin's guide here: wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Bluetooth_Passthrough I will be of little help beyond simply giving you this link. Good luck!

Hey guys, I just got the dolphin bar yesterday but I'm having issues getting it to work properly! I have a small room, when i'm right at my desk I cannot sit any further away from the Dolphin Bar! When I stand further away at my door it registers the Wiimote Pointer and works better! When I'm at my chair which is closer to my screen it doesn't work, I have thus tried to turn my monitor to face my bed and see if it registers the Wiimote whilst I am further away whilst sitting on my bed and it also worked! I was hoping there was a setting that allows me to alter the distance the Dolphin bar works at! It is requiring me to sit too far away to play! Is there a setting I can change to allow me to sit close and still play? Is there anything else I can do without manually having to open up the dolphin bar physically? Hello! Unfortunately there isn't a setting for that. The lights on the bar physically require that your Wiimote be minimum 1 metre away. But if it isn't too awkward of a placement, if there is any additional space at all behind where your monitor is placed, such as under your desk, or some other unobstructed space in your desk area, depending on how much space you have, you might be able to get closer to that 1 metre. One thing you could also do is use a USB extension cord to have the bar further away, while still being able to sit in front of your screen. On that note; A ridiculous and possibly unhelpful idea I just had would be to secure your bar to the ceiling somehow lol. Might be awkward and discombobulating to play with at first, but I think if you're in dire straits, it could be less horrendous than you think haha. Maybe on the ceiling but still behind your monitor laterally? So you have a BIT of an angle to work with so it at least feels SOMEWHAT like the Wiimote is facing the game Alternatively, if for whatever reason the Dolphinbar is physically difficult to work with for the more unconventional methods I just mentioned (and somehow the following options are any easier??????), you might be able to use one of the following setups: a) 2 small candles spaced out the same distance as the lights on Dolphinbar b) same as above but small LED lights Hope this helps! Any other questions, ask away!

My monitor is to close as I have a small room but the bed on my left is further back! 2 boxes + the Dolphin bar on top of those 2 boxes seems to work, i can point at the screen and it now works, i wish the dolphin bar was better for small rooms but it work fine for super mario galaxy now with the bar 1 metre away! than for the help btw!

That's a new issue I've heard about a few times only somewhat recently. To answer you, no, but I don't use the Dolphinbar all that much really. However I'm pretty sure Mayflash has improved upon this issue since before the time I bought mine. If the lights burning out is too much of a concern of yours, you could hedge your bets on other bootleg options available, or any combination of visible lights being placed roughly one foot apart. Yeah, as mentioned in some other similar comments, the Mayflash Dolphinbar does indeed seem to work predominantly with OEM Wiimotes. However there are some people who have mentioned success with 3rd-party controllers, but the cases seem to be completely random/hit-or-miss.

If you're able to get into a game and use the wiimote for a time, it's possibly low battery. Otherwise ensure that your wiimote is OEM and not third party. This process only works with official, OEM wiimotes, and you will otherwise have to use "emulated" or "hybrid" wiimote options.

Well the quickest way to tell for sure is that if it says "Wii" at the bottom, it is genuine. Additionally, if you've connected to the bar, I have a hard time believing the IR inputs wouldn't work since both lights on the bar would be turned on and no longer flashing. However, 3rd-party wiimotes do have a completely muddied reputation in terms of IR input, as well as connecting them through the Dolphinbar, so it's not impossible that you do indeed have 3rd-party devices. I would just make absolutely certain and turn that "must not be" into a "for sure isn't" before doing anything too hasty.

Sure but understand that the Mayflash Dolphinbar also uses Bluetooth passthrough, which eliminates the need for an additional Bluetooth adapter. The Dolphinbar also provides a few additional controller modes. Keep in mind the Dolphinbar is a more streamlined process for those are aren't as technologically inclined, or for those who otherwise just want a simple process.

Well, like I said in my initial reply, it could take a BUNCH of attempts and a loooong time to get it recognized by the PC. I would recommend having some patience and trying to get it recognized by your PC before trying to connect it to Dolphin (reminder: you might be sitting there trying, clicking cancel, retrying, holding the red button down, cancelling, and retrying again and again for upwards of 30 minutes). Since, without a Dolphinbar, it's not possible to bypass the necessary steps via Control Panel, and much less so if you have a 3rd-party Wiimote.

I seriously doubt that the motion tracking would be easy for Dolphin to read on its own. It's possible that if there are motion controls in the Dualshock 4 controller, that a program like JoyToKey would help to identify it for you if Dolphin struggles like I expect it to. Whatever the case, whichever application you use to try and identify the motion controls, take very VERY precise note of what those controls are called, IF you even get a reading; a single character typed wrong makes the difference from Left to Up and forwards to backwards. For Android especially the issues may be trickier to even identify, let alone find a solution to. If you haven't already tried using a Dualshock controller with your Android device, then either connect it with a cable and dongle, or try using the bluetooth. Now if you mean will the Dolphin BAR work with any controller other than a wiimote for IR sensory? Well if the controller has an IR pointer like the wiimote... it's possible I guess. But you won't be able to connect the controller to the computer via the bar, at least not easily. You would have to use some other way to connect, and simply use the bar for nothing more than its IR capabilities.

Yes that version of Bluetooth will work with wiimotes & Dolphin. Like I said, a dongle will get the job done for SOME games, but not all of them. Other games do actually require the IR motion to be playable. If you're only interested in games that can operate without IR sensitivity, then a dongle will be fine. But if you want to play any games that do require IR inputs, you will need a sensor bar. Or alternatively, get a dongle and search up "wii candle trick" and try not to burn your house down.

There is no easy way to connect an original wii sensor bar directly to a computer. However, all the sensor bar does is emit infrared light, and the wii console does nothing more than supply power to the bar; the bar does not transceive signals to the system, only the wiimote. And so if you still have your wii, you can turn on your wii and have the sensor bar connected to that, and actually use that bar for your pc! Assuming of course that your pc has bluetooth and that your wiimote is properly connected. At any rate I would very much recommend the Dolphinbar or any other well-reviewed USB bar. Cheers
