Honestly if sukuna is not the strongest then it would feel like the author made gojo win cause of his popularity. It will make more sense if sukuna actually wins cause that will make him feel more dangerous otherwise it will be remembered as a manga about a side character who became the mc.

Suppose demon slayer tanjiro isn't that powerfull to fight alone he needs support from the hashiras . Same way writer of jjk said gojo is the pinnacle of jjk also at the same time he Hates him the most . You see the main character yuji who isn't worth of fighting a villain like Sukuna.
