Cool simator, I used to drive the Class 66 myself and it was my favorite locomotive, it's strong and ridgid and a real cargo locomotive. I also like the way to see that the instruments are different in the Netherlands, the throttle for example is on the left hand side and the train brake is on the right, also the isolator and direction switches are on the righthand and more within reach, the latest difference is the introdution of the ERTMS system on board, and the display is placed in the middle where the spedometer used to be. I reconise the overhead display as well! I used to put the train speed and power on the display, rather than looking at the gauges all the time.

@@DadRail I don't like tsw 2 or 3. They changed the physics of the game. They made engines accelerate much slower. And also the brakes have been seriously weakened. I also don't like that there is no longer the free roam camera that could be positioned anywhere in the map and was not tied to the train. I used that camera a lot in the original tws. Overall they have seriously downgraded the game. And it really upsets me so I no longer will play tsw. But anyways I'm just curious do you notice these changes? If you don't please go back and replay the first tsw. Get in a loco and throw it notch 8. See how fast of a speed you can get. And then see how quickly you can bring the engine to a stop. The engines have been seriously nerfed
@DadRail2 жыл бұрын
@@cjsnidlio9409 thanks for your comment. Personally I feel that the changes in the physics have made the game much more realistic. If anything the brakes on the 66 are still too sharp. I think TSW was more of an arcade game rather than a semi accurate simulator. I get that the changes don’t appeal to everybody. I guess it’s personal choice at the end of the day. Afaik free cam is still a thing. Press number 8 on the keypad

I regularly see 66s pulling through Lincoln station. They are by far my favourite locos for sound - when I stand on the university bridge and one throttles up to pull away, the exhaust pulses and whine of the dog-clutch turbocharger literally shake your organs. Absolutely love these.

Great video! I had high hopes for this revamped 66, and from what I've seen its even better than I was hoping for! I think this looks like the best 66 in any train sim for now. Some nerdy observations: 1. Train length counter operation is more realistic than the AP 66 in train sim classic 2. You can hear air going into the loco brake cylinders when the brakes are applying, making a subtle squeak sound. This is also not present on the AP 66

I used to work on IoG at the BP Site. Often saw the diesel trains slowing at the manual crossing to pass papers to the crossing controller. Some had to stop for some time as well, I presume to allow time to integrate into the main line traffic. Got to admit that I got to like the calming sound of those massive diesel engines idling.

It would be quite interesting to see if any train sims out there includes the Class 66 and the Class 59. Aesthetically almost identical, but notable differences in terms of tractive effort.
