The guy mimicking the baby crying to get them to stop actually works. If you do it just like they were, they will literally stop with a look of pure surprise on their face as if you just went insane. Also, a warning to guys new to children -- little kids, especially very young girls, lead with their knees when they leap up into your lap. If you know you'll be playing with small children -- be sure to wear a cup. You will thank me in the future.

I used to do it with my older one when he was a toddler. He tried to throw a tantrum and I got down on the floor and did it with him. Only had to do it a small handful of times and he never threw another.
