Jarv is awesome. Glad you had him on. Dads weren’t “pressuring” the straight edge guy, but just trying to demystify it a bit since his reasons for not doing it were really misinformed & came off as very judgy. They were basically saying, dude, chill out. And he could stand to. If not by smoking then just in a broad sense. That kind of rigidity tends to alienate people who can ultimately help you in life as an ambitious person. Unless you want to work as a government spook. Some of the most successful & ambitious people I know smoke weed rather than drink. The guy was clearly buying into big tobacco fear propaganda with zero basis in actual clinical trials. He can do whatever he wants, but he’s on a video telling the general public stuff that the less informed might believe, including that girl’s family, with truly thin connection to the reality of responsible use.
@courtney72642 жыл бұрын
As someone who has never smoked and no longer drinks, the peer pressure to smoke and implications that the people who don't smoke are "missing out" are frustrating. There's the pro-drug argument that "if it's not hurting anyone, what's the problem?" I think the same thing could be said for not doing drugs, them choosing not to drink or smoke isn't hurting anyone...
@athenapoe33772 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I hate how some of them were telling the non-smokers to try it one day. The pro-drug people always say they don't want anyone to tell them what to do/what not to do. It should be the same for non-smokers.
@libbylou6004 Жыл бұрын
As someone who worked at a dispo I would never pressure anyone to smoke, matter of fact there’s people I would recommend to not smoke. People can have bad reactions for multiple reasons so on that note weed isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. I also was never peer pressured and when I was older decided to with a trusting friend (who was like a big brother). If people come to me and want to experiment I would gladly help, but if you don’t cool. I have friends that smoke and friends that don’t they respect my choice I respect theirs. 🙌

Long-term stoner here: You don't have to do anything you feel uncomfortable doing. Weed isn't for everyone, but it can be for most people if they find the strains that work for them and the frequency that works for them, in conjunction with the way of consumption that's best for them (e.g. some prefer smoking -which isn't great for the lungs, especially if you put tobacco in the mix-, some prefer vaping, some prefer bongs, steaming, ingesting etc.). (To give you a bit of back story, I'm doing my second masters degree, so weed won't necessarily affect your dreams and ambitions, but I don't smoke everyday or when I know I have something important to do (i.e. deadlines/assignments etc.). I also have ADHD, so smoking indica strains [the strains that relax you -because sativa strains cause me anxiety] is quite helpful for me. Weed also helps me with period cramps and insomnia)

His view was that he won't do anything that could potentially inhibit his discipline/drive that he already has. Same with the lady, she knows how she is so she does it because it doesn't get in the way of her goals. I've been smoking for over 20 years and the reality is that it goes both ways. I work, handle my biz and smoke while doing it; no problem at all. Could I be more productive if I wasn't? Probably. I'm sure. But I wouldn't call myself lazy by any means. I use to get high all the time when I was in high school. One month I stopped getting high and my mother kept accusing me of being high. I had to start getting high again in order to get her stop. I'm glad pot was illegal growing up. Half the fun was sneaking off and getting high.

It’s absolutely insane (but reasonable) at the amount of regulations they have for pilots so I’m assuming that Jimmy will stop using weed full stop (although PPL holders aren’t subject to random drug tests like those with CPLs and ATPLs).

My ex was one of the rare people who actually would get high & would end up violent. This a lot of the time was aimed at me. This put me off weed, plus having a strict teacher parent, cop as an uncle & a non-cigarette smoking straight-laced family, they were very against any drug, including weed. Now as a 30yo who has suffered from a chronic pain disorder for the past 8 years, I would be willing to trial medicinal cannabis for pain benefits. In Australia, our access to medicinal cannabis is ridiculously strict, expensive and not easy to be accepted to get. One day I hope it is as easily accessible as America, but a girl can dream can’t she?

I’ve learned that when you have bad experiences with weed, it could be laced. Weed is a depressant, not a stimulant. But who knows it could’ve just been bad for him 🤷🏾♀️ glad you got away from that and I hope you guys get to experience the wonders of weed some day
@SportsBookPro Жыл бұрын
As someone who smokes constantly on a regular basis, I still understand being scared to try it or just not wanting to. People always say "Oh weed is great, try it" but it's only great if you are used to it or take a very small amount. I wouldn't encourage someone who's never smoked to just take down a high dosage amount of thc that's like drinking a handle of vodka and it all hitting you at once. P.S- This is not for the group of anti-weed people who won't ever try it no matter what. This is for the group of people that have thought about trying one time but are nervous.
@mekelarje2 жыл бұрын
I smoke but I wasn’t a big fan of the dads responses towards the comedian guy whose never tried it and plans to keep it that way. Like, why the pressure or specific praise to him TRYING it? Why can’t we just praise him not wanting to try it. That’s his life and it’s awesome that he doesn’t feel the need for it. Good on him. Everyone is different, don’t get offended when they are.
@Ashleyishafag2 жыл бұрын
At least 2 people recommend trying weed to people that didn't want to. Weed doesn't feel the same for everyone. I loved smoking before I was like 18 or 19 and then after that it mainly gave me anxiety. Now it only gives me anxiety unless I vape or dab
