I agree ppl were so enraged when she went mad mate if u actually properly watched the show u know she was always mad
@jostockton.2 жыл бұрын
Actually I wouldn't even say mad- she was lucid and knew exactly what she was doing. She willingly and eagerly murdered everyone.

Thank you for this. I just finished the show recently but used to watch some scenes here and there and read a lot of comments. The comments made it seem like she was an actual good leader. But when I started watching the show, I literally was shocked by how awful she is at leading any city she got into.

She was truly a tyrant.

Well said.

Yeah, I can sympathize with you on that one. She's pretty much digging into that Hitler bag, when it comes to being a conqueror in the most idiotic ways possible.

I agree,but the dislikes are coming!

Thanks! I hope that the characters in the show see how bad she is too before she destroys everything. And yeah I showed this video to one of my friends who loves Daenerys and they got really mad.

YezenIRL did an excellent video titled, "Tragic Idealism: Why we should pity Daenerys Targaryen" that explores the cognitive dissonance between her apparent altruism and her justifications for executing on her plans of rulership. I recommend it to everyone. However valid and thought-provoking these instances foreshadowing a darker nature in Daenerys, there are still some things that bother me about presenting Dany as the Big Bad of the entire story. I mean, look around Westeros at what all the MEN were doing to people. There isn't a single thing Daenerys did at any point that the men of Westeros who held power did not do, and worse, to people subjugated by them on a regular basis. And yet Dany was the only one that ever cited a shed of altruism behind her intention to rule. Furthermore, there are enough scenes of her grappling with wanting to be a good, compassionate ruler that makes peoples' lives better to contravene the notion that her motives were just to be another tyrant. In the world that Martin created, "the end justifies the means" is a theme common to every one of the characters, not just Daenerys. So as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing anomalous about her behavior; nothing that makes her stand out as being more violent than any of the men around her and from any of the aristocratic houses of Westeros. Having not read the books, I don't know how Martin builds her arc along the way to strafing all of King's Landing. We can all agree that Dumb and Dumber should never be forgiven for how they ruined the show, and they should not be viewed as the authority on Daenerys' real plot arc by any means. But without sufficient enough examples of violent motivation to outweigh the numerous examples of altruistic motivation in this character, it's not enough to convince me that she is the villain of the entire story.

I read the books and I could not agree more with this! There are so many characters who do so much worse than her. In fact, Dany is one of the only ones who actively engages with the small folk and even wants to care for them personally when they are sick (in the books). She feels responsibility for their well-being. Dany has one of the hardest tasks in the books and yet she displays most humanity of all the rulers we have seen so far. She made mistakes, but of course she does, she was 15 when crucifying the masters. Ned executed a Brother of the Night's Watch unrighteously. Nobody ever talks about that either. In the books Stannis almost burned an innocent child for a religious ritual but nobody ever calls him mad. In the show he let his daughter burn and nobody views him as a tyrant. How is she a villain and they are heroes who failed?

If Danny talked like her her intentions and actions sure. She could learn a lot from Cersei Lannister who does what the men are doing and willing to be viewed with negativity. My main issue with Danny and her fans is, they pretend she is the voice of reason in all this fuckery and want to blame the backlash on sexism just like you almost did. Stop!

I should make a meme with "in the books" - I keep saying this, most people who like this story have read the books it's nothing special at this point.

I really am kind of baffled at your attempt to bring gender into this as if that is relevant at all. Seeing as how the book series is not completed and likely never will be I won’t mention any of the contents here and will instead refer to only material from the show. You say nobody judges the male characters negatively for the awful things that some of them do and I cannot help but laugh at that. Stannis is indeed a great military commander and a mostly principled man but he is also most definitely a psychopath. The burning of Shireen might be the only scene in the whole show that I refuse to ever watch again with how disturbing it is. Most of the people in this story are complete pieces of shit. The thing is that has no bearing on who Dany is as a person. Is she the villain of the whole story? I don’t really know and don’t really care. For me the show died when Arya stabbed the Night King everything after was just whatever. Still, it would feel very strange to me to try and defend a person who systematically destroyed Kings Landing and most of the people within it. It is quite the feat that all the men you refer to could not match up to in its savagery. I won’t really comment on Danys ability to rule (though I do believe it is wanting) but rather will point out the fact that as early as mid season 1 the signs were there that she is really quite sadistic and cruel. She enjoys the suffering of others whether they truly deserve it or not. She had little to no reaction when her own brother died a very gruesome death in front of her. As a fan of the story I believe he did get what he deserved but the fact she is his sister and reacted the way she did is a red flag to me. When she is about to burn Mirri Maz Durr she makes it a point to say that she will “die screaming”. In Qarth when she is betrayed instead of giving the perpetrators a clean death like Ned may have she locks them up inside a vault in the pitch black to starve to death. She crucifies the masters which again probably deserved but why not a clean kill and move on? She is putting extra effort into bringing as much suffering to these people as she possibly can. It’s telling that her bread and butter so to speak when dealing with enemies is to burn them alive. This is something I should point out is clearly stated to be one of the worst ways to go and Jon Snow shot Mance Raydar through the heart with an arrow to spare him that pain. Now to talk of her apparently altruistic acts. Yes it’s nice that she freed the slaves and all but if we are being totally honest the real reason she did these things is because they were politically and strategically convenient and beneficial to her at the time. If she really gave two shits about any of the slaves she never would have left for Westeros and left Meereen to the second sons to watch over. We never hear what happens after but I would t be surprised if the city fell to the opposition within weeks. The only reason she helped with the white walkers was because it was the condition set by Jon Snow for him to kneel. Everything she does that can be seen as good has some practical reason just under the surface. Pointing out how horrible others are will not make her look better and for that matter if we really measure them against each other she is still by far the worst. I don’t even hate her for this btw but I’m not going to ignore the things that are clear as day to see. Hopefully I have made some sense here.
