Discovery has got to be one of the best feel-good albums of all time. Every track’s a banger and it’s almost impossible not to bob your head along to the beats
@Nowaysis_10 ай бұрын
Just to add some context to this album, it was developped at the same time as an animated movie called Interstella 5555 (The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem) which was released one year later and is basically a 1h10 long clip for the album. I feel like the songs and the pacing make way more sense while coupled with the movie, and I would 100% recommand watching it. Anyway another good vid keep it up!

10/10 album man, so ahead of it’s time but also sampling the songs of old, that Daft Punk themselves grew up with and love. That’s why it feels so nostalgic! Digital Love makes me cry dude. For those of you who are curious about the sampling work (pioneered by the likes of Todd Edwards) done on Discovery, check out Tracklib’s video on it which basically breaks down those samples, reconstructs the song, and then plays the actual song back to back. Really cool. Also if you’re extra curious, Bandstand has an expanded video on Daft Punk’s samples outside of their work on Discovery.

@2:45 the vocals for One More Time were done by Romanthony, and the sample used was Eddie Johns 1979 track 'more spell on you'. first heard discovery when toonami aired the first part of interstella during the midnight run in 2001 or 2002 and its been one my favorite albums since. its pretty much what i'd consider a perfect album

Its actually a recreation not the original sample
@pc_buildyb0i9355 ай бұрын
@@keithmorrison8373 No, it's the original sample. It's actually 4 different loops and sampled from More Spell on You, and they are HEAVILY processed.

@@pc_buildyb0i935 yeah it barely even sounds like the original its transformative
@pc_buildyb0i9355 ай бұрын
@@keithmorrison8373 That's just because most recreations don't get the sampling or the production right. I have one on my channel, but it was before I figured out I was missing one more set of samples. I have a recreation now that's practically spot on, but it required so much processing it's not even funny. It also highlights Daft Punk's production process.

I guess as far as the Beatles reactions go, the easiest would be to do a watchalong. So you could set up a timer and go 3, 2, 1, and play, and ideally the viewer would play the song along with you. (muted on your end) It's something ive seen other channels do, howevery it can be quite tedious and might mean people won't end up watching the whole video. Also means that if you want to pause you'll have to redo the countdown from a certain point.
