This 2008 is 138 euros in my market right now but if there is mega heat on the end that is not my favorite (nor is the price). Speaking of which, I just tried a Carn Mor Bunna 9 year today (56%) and it was so good except for the firestorm that went down my throat and into the finish. That is a dealbreaker.

Great review Jason. I'm watching because I can buy a bottle of the 2011 Winter Batch for £105 and I know I'll never get another chance. Man, the freaking price though. It's 13 years old, 46%, ex-first fill bourbon barrels which suits me far better than some sherry interaction. I really want to try it but my WT head is saying don't be a fool, it's not a cask strength single barrel which might justify the price. If it was £75 I'd pull the trigger. I recently enjoyed a single (refill-bourbon) cask strength Auchentoshan 16 which is cheaper. By the way, independently bottled Auchentoshans are the way to go if you want great Lowland expressions. They've never failed me but ex-bourbon is the way to go. Cheers. WT

my I suggest you buy it. most people really like these ex-first fill bourbon barrels. But it is hard to find any independently bottled Auchentoshans - only SMWS

Haha Thanks Jason. Yes we loved the 2006 USA (exbourbon). The bottle had been open for a year. We also did not like the 2009 USA version which is 25% sherry. It had a very harsh post finish - finish. Yeah we thought the Sherry was having a fight.

Have never tried a Daftmill. At these prices, I never will. Non of the 2008 and 2009 releases are available in SoCal as of yet. The 2006 and 2007 bottling go for $225 to $250. I'm pretty sure Balvenie 12 Single Barrel First Fill varies from cask to cask. Hope your right temple feels better.

I really appreciate the honesty in your videos, you say it as you see it from your point of view….but I always have to laugh when I watch one of your videos right after a whisky friend video…you pouring a 1/8 oz sample (which I like and would do myself ) and Allan pouring like a 2-3 oz 😂 😀

I have never touched any Daftmill but I think it is OK whisky at least, overloaded with hype. As for batch variations, Kilchoman and Glenallachie are also notorious for having those. As long as they go for consistency of quality, it's OK with me. A little more info and transparrency would be nice too. Cheers!

Well you can't get any more real then this review. I feel that if you paid 180 or more for one of these bottles, you will force yourself to atleast like it.
