P&WJsmith4liberty 1. Yeah the controls are wonky 2. Yeah DOS is really fucking hard to work with when you don't know what you're doing 3. That FUCkinG starting dungeon took me forever because of this stupid guy behind a table that kept killing me and then when I finally killed him, left the dungeon, left the city, and went out into the wilderness I DIED and my last save was before I killed the guy and I didn't touch the game for like 2 months after that.

Download the "Ancestral Ghost" version of Daggerfall. It contains updates, bug fixes and an easy installer so you don't have to dick around with DOSbox. Also, look up some Daggerfall beginners guides. Trust me, it will make things easier. For example, I assume you picked a class from the list? You should make a custom class instead, standard ones are shit.

Erik Waterson unity is cool, but it’s still just a mod for Daggerfall. That’s not really a remake, it improves it a lot, but daggerfall is just naturally clunky with shit graphics. It would be really cool if it were to be remade with the same gameplay and visual quality of the newer games.

Nah, Morrowind's theme was the same as Oblivion and Skyrim. What I like to do is to go to the Music folder of the game and replace the "explore" music with Daggerfall's music. IMO Daggerfall's music fit so much better than Morrowind's music.

I remember playing this game once. Fought my way out of the first dungeon in which it felt like almost every enemy was immune to my attacks, to then finally arrive at the first town. I immediately went outside to be haunted by the evil ghost. I tried to go back into the city, but they wouldn't let me, so I tried to climb up the walls, which was very, very, very clunky to do. Somehow I actually did it to just get the guards going absolutely haywire to "break into the city" (completely ignoring the GIANT ghost chasing me). In panic I jumped down the wall towards the city, just to land, breaking my legs and lying there. Thus my journey ended, while my remains where still being clubbed by a dozen guards. Time to play Daggerfall Unity now!

I imagine so. Though all experiences are subjective, I think I'd rather have a smaller, handcrafted world than a continent sized mega world with endless copy/paste treesprites again ^^'. Now the story of daggerfall in a more condensed world might be nice, but I'd rather they focus on telling more and newer stories. Let the mod/ indie community make this if they want to ^^ like they're remasting Morrowind, for instance.

Actually, the reason the game was called Arena was because it was originally intended to be a gladiatorial combat simulator, before evolving into the open-world RPG it would ultimately become as development progressed. Unfortunately, by that point it was too late to change the title.

Arena took place all of Tamriel. Daggerfall took place in High Rock and Northern Hammerfell. Redguard took place at the Summerset Isles(I think...) Morrowind was, obviously, in Morrowind. Oblivion was in Cyrodiil. Skyrim was, obviously, in Skyrim. Shivering Isles(IV) took place in the Shivering Isles of Sheogorath.

Whoops. My mistake. I just checked again, and there actually is an attribute mod for Skyrim called "Third Era Attributes for Skyrim." It doesn't seem to be quite finished, and some bugs have been reported on it, but if nothing else, it's a step in the right direction. I may actually decide to play Skyrim some day if that mod works the way it says it does.

Actually it still is presumably, after the Mantella was split and the Numidium awakened the four provinces, if I recall correctly, were Daggerfall, Wayrest, Sentinel and Orsinium. That said, yeah, it's one of the 3 provinces of High Rock, Hammerfell's only [northern] province is Sentinel.

I have said that " in it(Hammerfell)" i just want to mention that only a very small part of Hammerfell was visited. Shadowkey did take place mostly in Hammerfell, but just a very small piece of land around the border between skyrim, Hammerfell and high rock, around the city of Dragonstar. But never mind, no one would want to buy that N-GAGE. Since only Dragonstar, Stros M'Kai and Sentinel have beem visited, i think there will be a game focus in hammerfell. But it is now our time for SKYRIM.

I never played Daggerfall. I did hear that it was bigger than Arena, even if Arena have, you know, the whole Tamriel. it just baffles me, because I played Morrowind and there's barely any form of fast travelling there. You only have the mounts outside most cities, and they only take you to the closest cities and that's it, while the previous game allowed a more free fast travelling system? Crazy.

You're right that "Redguard" took place (mostly) on Stros M'Kai, vault34, but the island is a part of Hammerfell province (though Cyrus and the Restless League were ultimately fighting to ensure Hammerfell would be independent of the Empire). We've also visited Hammerfell in Shadowkey, an Elder Scrolls game for the Nokia N-GAGE (no way to play that one except on an N-GAGE or a phone that supports that version of N-GAGE software, unfortunately).

@ThisLittleAddict Yes, It's called Arena. It's a buggy, harsh, unforgiving game that has a game world 100X bigger than oblivion. It was impossible to complete before the first patch was released. It's combat system was a challenge, magic was one of the most annoying and tedious things to use, and most of the world was randomly generated. That being said, it was the start of a revolution.

@drakkman9 Especially with lunatics running around with hammers, going into peoples houses, bashing peoples skulls in, taking everything, and selling it to the local merchant, killing the merchant, taking everything again, selling it off to a merchant, and then moving to the next town to do the same... I had allot of fun with Morrowind.

Imagine a Daggerfall or Morrowind or Arena with Modern Graphics that would be Sick Oblivion or Skyrim doesn't need a Graphics Overhaul as Much as Morrowind and Older Elder Scrolls Games
