Im not sure how everybody else feels but I prefer it when you do the time-lapses instead of jump-cutting most of the field work. Its nice to see the work happen but not take hours.

Most farmers rent from each other sometimes through what's called a machinery circle, as for silage they usually cut themselves then hire a contractor to lift it so I don't see leasing as a massive problem tbh, great videos BTW
@benhenry17063 жыл бұрын
Correct. What we do is we have our own small mower and we cut our fields then get a friend who has a baler and wrapper to lift it and bale it, in return we obviously pay him and we help bring his bales in when he cuts his

Leasing isn't bad as long as the item is returned after its short-term use. I don't think leasing was the problem, it was leasing over an extended period for no real reason and never returning the item(s). The way you have been leasing in this series is far more realistic. Thank you for that. Enjoying the videos! Glad to see you get your fire back for the game.
@Wourghk3 жыл бұрын
You'll find that in reality, most heavy equipment is leased with the benefit of not having to pay for repairs, as the leasing company will have on-call maintenance staff. That might be less attractive in remote areas as the wait times become inconvenient, but leasing agreements are usually more sensible than "pay X% of vehicle's total value up front and Y per work hour and you have to pay for all repairs, so we expect you to run it ragged and throw it back at us in shambles".

Yep long term leasing can get expensive. Best to get the equipment, use it, make the profit and return. When I started playing FS19, I had a bad habit of keeping things far too long. Then I realized when my farms would go broke, it was from leasing too much😆

Dag, it is your game and your play, and most farmers rent until they can afford to buy. It is the growing pains of starting up. If some people do not like your style of play, then they can produce their own videos. I find that your use of time lapse and jump cuts to be a good mix. By the way, your Valtra has new tech, Bluetooth PTO. ;)
@maidenminnesota13 жыл бұрын
Grapes and olives make way more sense on the French map than they do on the US map. Also, I believe most farmers lease equipment these days, at least in the US. It's far too expensive to purchase, considering most farms remaining in the US are corporate farms, which have the money to buy the massive equipment, and then in turn drives up the prices, meaning family farmers simply can't afford to buy, anymore. Our extended family are farmers, and one made the mistake of buying and he went bankrupt.

nothing wrong with leasing and hired workers, for many years of my youth i worked at "direct translated from danish" a Machine station, which is basically a equipment farm with no land but large machinery and all types of field work machinery, and the local farmers in the area hired us to come a do all sorts of field work, either because they are unable to do it in time, or simply don't have the machinery.

Play however you want and from what others have said. Leasing isn't the problem. Never returning items you are leasing is, because then you're just abusing a mechanic in the game, which isn't very enjoyable at least for me to watch. Takes some of the joy out of it for me, other than that. Love the play through.

I tend to lease equipment I need for right now and maybe never/rarely again - say plow the fields that need it at game start. When it comes to equipment which I constantly need then I prefer to buy it, even with loaned money - so in this case I'd prefer to buy the grass handling equipment, sprayers, etc. But I wouldn't borrow money unless they're going to pay for themselves immediately - so crop in the field needs to be harvested so I can sell it, then I'll borrow to fund the purchase and sell to pay off - everything short term! But that means I'm not going to borrow for a sprayer, as it doesn't make money - it makes more money later, that can delay until the next crop most of the time.

Leasing seems like the smarter deal. Why pay thousands of dollars to buy something you only use once or twice a year? Charming as a lawn ornament as they might make as they slowly rust away, it's better to just lease as needed. At least in early game when you have little to no money or room. Later in the game when you're raking in cash, and have several properties you can put sheds or barns on to store them in, THEN you can stop leasing and start just buying your own... All so, I love the timelapses, the music is great~
