True, neither UT, neither CoD can compete with that level of skill. It's jsut amazing. Best duel FPS game ever.
@Tuxcz10 жыл бұрын
Maxime Gilles I played both, Quake and UT and I think UT requires more skill, it's bit slower than Quake but more dynamic because of dodges(HLDM is another good example of skillful game). Hitting headshot in UT was a lot harder for me than rails in Quake. But that's the game mechanics which you can see on public. I've never played Quake or UT professionally so I can't tell which game is more skillful, because it's not only about aim. But I still agree with you on one thing, also for me, Quake is no.1 duel FPS game.

I have a lot of respect for DaHang, and I know that Cypher was unplayable in this series and was really hitting EVERYTHING, but seriously there were a lot of moments where DaHang should have played smarter and safer, controlling the map and locking the advantage, instead of "rushing too much". The only thing that can work against this kind of Cypher is frustrating him with a safe and intelligent defensive play, and in all three of the maps DaHang could have played in many moments more in this style, given he was in a significant advantage in thr beginning of all the maps. I know that this is easier to say than to do in game against this beast of a Cypher, but it's the style that rapha and other players (cooller) used to mantain Cypher "human" in maps like dm13. Surely (probably) this Cypher would have won the same, but I'm sure that with a smarter play in some moments, dahang could have taken a map or maybe two. Howewer, lots of respect for him and for this Quake God called Cypher.

@taipoxin10 жыл бұрын
And 15:55 as well. Dude's not human. Fastest reaction time I've ever seen.
@cruz1ale9 жыл бұрын
taipoxin to be fair, you can't judge from that how fast his reaction time was. He heard and saw the rocket being fired way before the rocket filled his screen up, making it easy to predict that it might hit him and thus prepare to duck just in case.
@taipoxin9 жыл бұрын
crucci I can't judge? The time between the rocket firing and it appearing was not "way before" it was a split second (I'll say about 25ms). I was there in front of the stage where I could hear and see everything myself. There is nothing easy about his ducking skills and I've not seen one other player who does it as often and as well as he does and I've watched dozens of his live games since going to Quakecon every year since 2007.
@cruz1ale9 жыл бұрын
taipoxin What does it matter where you personally were when the game was originally played? We have video footage, we don't need memory. If an opponent is a few meters away from you and fires a rocket, you hear a sound of a rocket being fired. You don't need a visual cue, you can already react to the sound cue. Before you even see the rocket, you're already dodging or preparing to dodge based on an estimate of where the enemy might have fired it. That gives you several hundreds of milliseconds of a reaction window because QL rockets travel roughly 30m/s. Average human reaction time is 250ms, which gives you about 7-8 meter firing distance for the average person to be able to react to the rocket. Competitive gamers tend to have well under 200ms reaction time. I'm not claiming it is easy to dodge rockets like Cypher does. All I'm saying is that 15:55 doesn't suggest his reaction time is out of the ordinary.
@taipoxin9 жыл бұрын
crucci I don't know why you're so set on arguing the nuance of something that I never even implied in the first place which misses the point but regardless, me being there = watching the entirety of all games he played so I know how he reacts to many situations similar to this one. I've seen him do many amazing reaction shots over and over and over. He wasn't already crouching just from auditory projectile noise of the rocket. The auditory fire didn't inform him that it was headed straight for him and he should know to duck. Hearing it and registering in his mind takes time, so it was a combination of hearing it to have awareness of the area it's being shot *from* and where to focus his view then to crouch as soon as the rocket appeared. You also don't have to tell me about competitive gamers as I have been one for over 15 years and I have proven myself with extremely good reaction time. I know someone with extraordinary reflexes when I see it. And it's not 'easy' to do it like Cypher does, nobody else does it as well as he does. He's a freak in a very small percentage of people. He thinks and reacts faster than the competition, besides aiming incredibly and this has pushed him to the top can kept him there for years.

That would be wonderful, but it would be targeted at console market, capped at 60fps with shiny useless graphics. That would be the most profitable game for them. Best scenario would be a slightly better version of the original released in quake live style. But I guess there is no money in that as it would split the quake live community :(

@JerehmiaBoaz8 жыл бұрын
+Sascha Sadat-Guscheh The whole point of quake is that everything is overpowered, it's an old school arcade shooter intended to make you feel like a superhero, not like a soldier. Though everything is overpowered, it's all in perfect balance, from the insanely powerful weapons, the crazy body armor, and the olympic record running speed and jumping hight, up to the crazy amount of damage your body can take (15 or even 20 machine gun bullets without armor before you die). The time it takes to crouch and get up again, as well as the time it takes to switch weapons, are about the least overpowered things in quake (3/live).
